i have a deal in the works for a XL 600....its like a 84 or something (not sure)....im also working on plans to turn this tihng into a 3 wheeler, i have a 350X front end here, all i need is a swingarm and a shock....im thinking of a 400ex Swing arm since a 200x or similar arm would prob crack....any ideas??

Keep the swing arm from the XR.. put the axle from the 350, if that's possible.

the only 350x parts i have is a complete front end...my friend had a XL 500 made into a trike, and it used a modified 250R swingarm, i was thinking in doing the same but using something tougher

I'm doing a 400ex rear end in my project too. I've seen those aluminum swingers crack but I figure if it's built right then I could always swap in an aftermarket one later if needed.

i would stay away from the aluminum, cause your going to need to mod it anyway...you should just grab a 250R or 350X swinger or just something steel and not offset...it would just be easier....i always use steel for all my swingers and there hasnt been any major failures yet....

Got any pics of your friend's XL500 trike? I'd like to see it.

Good advice but those challenges are the reasons I want to do it. The one I'm building will be hated by some, loved by others and perfect for what I want.

music to my ears. those reasons alone motivate me to build stuff. i like to be challenged AND MOST OF ALL: PROVE OTHERS WRONG WHEN THEY HAVE A NEGATIVE ATTIDUDE

hey, the monster is just like that. It handles great, the extra weight helps. It was pretty easy to build, hardest part was the sub frame. the swingarm was a bolt in. If you have a roller you can just switch out what you need. a 4 cylinder, not 4 cycle, is a real blast in the sand with all the torque. need to get some wider paddles though. If you need more info, pm me.

hey, what's next? tripple tree modification for trike front end. If you use all honda, should not be a problem. swingarms are easy if the bolt is the same diameter, just use spacers to line up the chain/sprockets.

Nice. Put some ape hangers on there and you'll have Captain America's chopper from Easy Rider.
