I fellow 3ww member made me aware of this. don't you hate how the seat/fenders fly off your bike when hitting whoop sections

go to www.jlatvproducts.com and then online catalog and then seat latch, you will see something that doesn't appear right

Yeah never heard of that either, have owned 3 85-86 250rs, 2 85 350x's, and 2 83-85 200x's. Never happened to me and I ride em pretty damn hard! Those look beefy though! :TrikesOwn

it happened to me twice, once it scratched the hell out of my plastics(this happened riding on the railroad tracks) and the other time hitting a whoop section on a track.

Dammit!

Never happened to me either. Is your latch spring worn out?

never had that problem...one thing I never do is trailer my trikes with rear plastics on...never know when you'll hit a wind storm ofr just high winds

MR ATC has those on his ATC400X project trike..... let me see if I got any pictures that you can see it.... hmmm... can't see it in the pics, I remember him unscrewing it instead of the latch... or was it on his HRC?

I race MX all the time and even after stacking it, plastic has never fallen off my Tecate or my Yamaha.............

Oh...... sorry boys, must be a honda thing eh :-P

you need to make sure your latch spring is good, then another thing is the seat rubbers that actually holds tension on it all when you snap the seat / fenders into place.
im sure thats the problem.
i have never had any fall off.

I think the latches and the rubber stoppers get worn because this used to happen everytime I jumped my 350X. I made a bolt / Wing nut set up now that keeps them on tight.

in the 90s when i raced a suzuki i used to aim at all the honda fenders on the track....lol

it was funny at the time

Never had this happen to me either, and I have hit whoops in 5th gear! I also drove for about hours with my rear fender facing forward at 50+mph speeds almost the entire trip!!!

Those things do look pretty beefy though! That's for sure!

man, every 250r i have had the seat, and plastics have came off during a race.huge doubles, and nasty whoops will throw that seat off everytime.i cut the 2 post off mine, and replaced them with 2 3/8 carriage bolts.welded to the seat latch, and just use wing nuts to secure the seat down.haven't lost the plastics since.

My cure........2 springs. I never had a problem with mine when I still ran it, though I did hear of it. Only problem I had was the grommets at the rear wearing and causing a bit of a rattle. Use 2 springs and never look back. Comes off like stock, it's just that the latch is stiffer to pull.
