Nope.... thanks for playing! NOT going to work. 81 Front rim, only works on a 81 (3 bolt pattern) a 82 only works on a 82. The holes are much closer together than the 83-84Rs or the 85-86R's. I have a spare 82R front rim here, but keeping it until I get my 2nd frame to start building my 2nd R! :w00t:
I looked at it quick the other day and thought it was a rear rim. I got a "vintage" parts catalog (81R only) and it shows identical part numbers for the front rim pieces (remember, 2 piece rims!) and the rear rim pieces... pretty sure if you get an OEM rear 82R rim, you can use it up front! Then get yourself some 83-84R rear hubs to switch your rear tires over to the standard 4-110mm pattern! (or 300EX hubs if you want some extra width too! hehehe)
