View Full Version : Sort of feel sorry for this guy...

This guy has this mint 1970 Atc 90 on ebay. It is one of the most beautiful restored Atcs I have EVER seen. HOWEVER, $1,970 for a 35-year-old machine is a bit much, no matter what kind of condition it is in. The thing that makes me feel sorry for him (and kind of chuckle to myself also) is that for his sub-heading he typed, "It won't last long on ebay." As of right now, THERE IS NOT A SINGLE BID!! And it has been listed for almost four days! Guess he shouldn't have been so confident. I know I shouldn't laugh, but come on.....$1,970 for a bike that is 35 years old?!?!?!

The older it gets the more it will be worth.

That thing is georgous, but I agree with you that 1,970.00 for a starting bid is a bit much. Maybe there is someone that would pay that much somewhere out there, but Its not me..

You bet. I mean, if I had $1,970 just laying around in a coffee can under the bed, then I might consider it. It sure is nice, but I don't think I'd be riding it all that much. I'd be afraid to get a single spec of dirt on it! It would more or less be just for show.

I will be surprised. What would you folks do with a trike like that? I probably would take it out like once a year or something. Like maybe on my birthday or some other special day like that. Or maybe take it to Trikefest just to show it off!!! But then, once the ride was over, I'd have to clean the whole thing (and I mean inch for inch...probably with a tooth brush) again just because. To let so much as even one little drop of mud on something like that would be a sin! And as far as riding it on a regular basis...forget it!

Hey Bigcrip.

That cream stuff.. does it harden to a crust. or does it stay suple? reason i ask is if you ding the tank will it flake off to bits and pieces and get in the carb ? or does it stay put ?

curious..

I would put it in a glass box in the dining room and eat dinner on it every night, but I wouldn't ride it.

Some of you may have seen my saying in a post before.

"Those who call you a fool for what you pay today will call you a hero in ten years"

That bike is really sweet. All it takes is one person who has an itch and some extra bucks to complete a sale like this. This is truly a collectors bike. Think about it, I live up here in the northeast. I also have a 1000 gallon tank for my heat. At two bucks a gallon thats 2000.00 to fill it once. HMMM fuel oil or a rare ,mint 35 year old three wheeler that no one I know has. Think about what you have to spend your money on. For someone who has an extra two grand that bikes a steal!!!

It's just like a plastic coating, white in color. As long as the preperation is done proper it will never flake off. All Harleys and I think BMW's come stock with it in, maybe not the exact product but they are treated.

I have done at least 4 of them. Excellent product. $30 at most cycle shops.

I may not be a Honda fan, but come on. That thing a wonderful piece of ATV history. It is absolutely perfect. Those little ATC 90’s are what started it all. I agree it is not worth $1900, it is worth much more. The rarity of such a beautiful piece art in motion has got to be something worth having. If I were a Honda fan my family would miss meals so I could have that thing in my living room under a display case. When I did ride it (because no matter how pretty that is what they are for) I would baby it and treat it like the true classic that it is.

I had to rustle up this thread again. I just got my ATC90 so I've been searching and reading through all topics pertaining to it. 4 years ago, this $1,970 '70 US90 was thought to be ridiculous. Now that the economy is in the tank, this '70 US90 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-ATV-1970-ATC-90_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhas hZitem230299afa9QQitemZ150367481769QQptZATVs) ended this morning for over $3000 without the reserve being met. I don't know if the original bike in this thread was as nice as the one I linked to but I thought it was an interesting comparison.
