I need to get a new chain for my 86 350X. I don't know what size of chain I should get. I am buying a 14t front sprocket and leaving the back one stock. Could someone please tell me what size of chain the 350X has? Thanks.

A 350x has 90 links. If your going up one tooth in the front,i would get a 92 link chain. If it's a tad too long, you can always tighten it up,or take a link out.

Yep...520-90.... an extra tooth should only require an extra "half" link. A 200M and 88-89 TRX250R list a 520-92 as stock (Parts Unlimited Table in Dennis Kirk)

What brand did you have in mind? What type......none o-ring, o-ring or x ring?

Make sure the tensile strength is plenty strong!

I'd recommend the all mighty EK 520 MVXZ with a tensile strength of 9000. I run it on my CRF 450 motocrosser and hardly ever adjust it. The nickel plated chrome one is really nice. Get a colored one and it eventually wheres off the edges of the plates.

Check it out.

I put the gold DID ATV X-Ring on my 350X..... had like a 3500 wear rating or something... was the best out there.... only the best! hehehehe

Chris

I only run an O or X ring period! A standard none o ring chain has a bit less drag but we the consumer would never notice it. You don't have to lube an X or O near as often because grease is sandwiched between the O-X rings. Still needs a light coat thopugh to help reduce heat and friction.

Got this from the EK website I listed:

What’s the difference between O-rings and EK’s Quadra-X Ring seals?

Both offer perfectly adequate sealing to contain the grease between the pins and bushings, and to keep contaminants out. But the disadvantage of O-rings versus non-sealed chains is increased friction, caused by the sideplates rubbing against the rubber seals. That’s why racers often opt for non-sealed chains, even though it means they have to replace their chains more frequently.

EK invented the O-ring chain for motorcycles back in 1974, but we’ve improved on our invention with the revolutionary Quadra-X Ring seal. The Quadra-X Ring reduces friction by as much as 40 percent, thanks to its smaller contact area. Yet it offers even better sealing than a conventional O-ring, because it has twice as many contact points between the ring and sideplates. It’s the optimal combination of maximum sealing protection with minimum friction. Bench tests show that EK Quadra-X Ring chains last 50 percent longer than standard O-ring chains.
