I thought this would be a fun thread. We all know about all of the discontinued or hard to find parts for our bikes. I don't have much but here is my brand new never been mounted 85 ATC 250R motor and brand new OEM Yellow Tri Z headlight cover. Lets let all the the secrets out. Somewhere out there someone has a brand new tecate tank in the box or that tiger shroud thats never been on a bike. Whats in your garage?????

350 X thats not an average garage. By that list thats a shop and a nice one at that. Deathman- Several months ago I saw a complete 250r short track kit with shrouds tank and all brackets new in the box go for 1250 bucks. Save those shrouds.

ifi was u id get a dvd recorder and record that video to dvd..less costly than vcr tapes and not as heavy

If it gets copied it will go to dvd. But this is the dilemma. Dvd recorders are still like 300$ here and i don't really need one except for this project. I only want to play the tape once, copy it to dvd, then go dvd player to dvd rec. Or i wait till my buddy gets his dvd burner in his cpu and i bribe him into getting a vid in card, they're cheap, and feed him beer till he spits out enough copys for members here. The trick is getting him to install a card and get it working without another use for it other than mine, and getting him to take the time to rip copys like mad for me. I dont think a home dvd stand alone copier will copy any faster than the play speed, where he can spit copys out like 1 every 5-10 min.Does anyone have this info? Can they rip dvd's like a cpu can? I'm workin on him, trust me, i wanna get it to dvd so i can watch it again without compromising the tape.

the kicker about the short track shrouds is that I paid $40 a picece for them, I don't plan on taking them out of the boxes.

Damn you have great connections as that pipe new was going to cost me $330 with the nickel plated finish, so one that is used for half the price was a steal for me. I would jump on PTP for a 250r for $200. They are much better than the ESR pipe on power gains. I have ridden same bike with both and the ESR not even close to PTP! I can get a new ESR for $200, but I'll pass on that one. Good luck on getting the Westcoast swinger. I do need a 4in or larger extended swinger to keep my front end down on drags. Maybe I'll get one from a 86-87 trx 250r, as they are still made and easier to find!

I was woried about TriZTunes when an awesome Tecate Tank came up on E-bay. But he bowed out of the auction. I thought for sure he was gonna win that tank. It wass the second Tecate Tank I have seen in like 4 years on E-Bay thatwas in really good condition. The 1st one ended early and the second TriZ was on the case. I was sweating and thought for sure I would lose the Tank. Im glad he bailed because This is a sweet tank. Here she is on the Tecate. Its a little faded but better than most tanks. :w00t:

This is great stuff- I truly don't see this thread as bragging or competitive. I'm so impressed and intrigued with what everybody has out there so far. Triztunes thats awesome. This has to be more than just a hobby. I love the story about the black head light cover (the guy had no idea what he had) By the way I would kill for one of those. Since I've gotten into this I think the hunt is part of the fun. Sure if I could walk into a local dealer and buy this stuff all of my bikes would be flawless but what would be left to do. Part of the fun is looking for this stuff and its painful to lose something on ebay which doesn't happen to me to much when i need something more often when i 'd like to have something. Finding things a dealerships collecting dust is cool. But think of all of the great parts still out there in a box, in a basement, forgotten about. Ebays only the tip of the iceberg. Garage sales, flea market finds, theres other ways to come upon these treasures. If interested lets continue this thread and start a new one of stories of how we've found this stuff in ways other than ebay. By the way, when I bought my TriZ it was off of Ebay and it came with an "Extra set of Fenders" thinking they were used or Maier to my surprise it was delivered with a new set of OEM black rear fenders in the yamaha packaging (Score!!!)

I got my H-Tracs on aluminum offset rims at a yardsale down the road. (Racing was always big here in NY) Anyhow.. got the pair for $25 or 30 buxs! There's a pair on ebay right now (on gold Tri-Z rims going for over $170!! (Good Luck TRIZTUNES!!!!)

I have a new in the box set of SHOWA adjustable front lower forks for the 85-86 250R with rods, and bushings/seals. Painted gold.
8 number plates and alot of petty numbers
1 set of lower fork guards
a complete never mounted set of oem 86 plastics including seat and a gas tank that has never had gas in it.
New oem rims and tires, a complete set.
Misc. extras, almost enough to build another 250R.
New desert racing seat, and tank.

86 Tecate: (it's my friends stuff sitting at our house)
2 gas tanks, 1 in good shape, 1 in less than decent shape
full set of plastics, new, and a extra front/rear maier in the package.

Other: a complete set of US90 rim-tire combo, barely used, in good condition.

Just added, Paul Turner Hi Rev pipe for 250r and White Ceet seat cover that says ATC on the side. I also just purchased and am waiting for them to be made, two case savers that also go around the shifter shaft for protection also. The guy is producing 50 and that will be it for this year, and they are on Ebay for $22.95. That is alot better than the price at JL ATV. Now if I can just get some 350x mudflaps at the OEM price of $37.00 and put them on Ebay........LOL

Bill was in the middle of tuning my R, new grab bars, rebuilding forks with Progressive springs, new rear bearings, and replacing my whole rear end with NOS parts I bought. He had replaced the cam in my GoGo the week or 2 before with a Cam straight out of a crate motor. All in the name of keeping my machines "from the hands of idiots"... wouldn't take a dime for the labor. "I don't do this for you Bruce... I do this for the machines." I dont have too much to really brag about, alot of 250R stuff like mint crank cases, ported cylinders (LRD and ESR), wiseco crank, a few NIB piston kits for various machines, some reed spacers (250r's, triz), boyesen reeds to different machines, a DG head I finally pried out of the hands of a dude up here (a year after I sold my air fooler, but owell), some gasket kits, and a couple boxes of other stuff.. I mostly just keep an eye out for good deals, even if I dont need them, mostly just to throw in a box for ebay later on.

As for buying old nos parts you can do it.all you need about $5,000.go to your dealer and ask him about his old stock.yamaha gives credit of $2,000 a year on discontinued parts.but they don't want the parts we are interested in.

you have to buy the whole parts lot.the only bad thing is you have to buy old snowmobile parts they are a little hard to get rid of.then you go through it and pick out the parts you want.then you sell the other parts to pay for the parts you want.you can sell on ebay but people don't pay that much.

milwaukee cycle is one i sell alot to,eastcoast cycle.cycle dotor.

as for the snowmobile parts art's snowmobile,their is a guy in canada to but he barely covers shipping!!!!!!!!

I keep hearing of new things discontinued all the time lately. Talked to 2 of my local Honda dealers and they neither have any old 3 wheeler stuff and almost no recent quad parts. They mainly care about the crotch rockets, what with all the squids at the local Navy bases. Wish they did have some new old stock, would be nice to have a large supply to share with the rest of these guys on here! No such luck for me, but hey at least the stuff is somewhere! :cool:

Contact Shep1970 on here, at one point and time he was repop-ing the 86-87 200x headlight housings. If I remember correctly I think his mold may have given up the ghost but he may have made another one or may still have some. I have one he did and it's great.
