View Full Version : 85 350x carb elevation adjustments

I just bought a 350x from ohio, and I'm in NJ. The elevation there is about 850ft and here its 85 ft. I think I need to adjust the air screw, but I dont see one. It ran perfect in ohio, but here it's hard to start, backfires, wont idle or stay running. Let me know what you think, or how to adjust the air. Thanks

my x manual says the stock jet (#138) is good 6000 feet and below.
so that ain't it.
pilot screw setting is doughtful in my opinion, running good in ohio, should run good in jersy.
you sure you don't have it warmed up good or getting used to the starting /choke proceedure ?

I started it once in ohio, when it was cold. One of my buddys tried to start it yesterday, and couldn't get it to run right, he might have had the choke wrong, but I doubt it. I havn't tried yet. I've been waiting till I get my new clutch plates in and the caliper rebuilt, but I want to find out what the problem could be. I'll play around with it this weekend. Any suggestions?
Thanks

I would suggest that YOU go try to start it. If you got it to run in OH, then you should be the one to do it in NJ. Not eeryone uses the same procedure when starting/choking. I agree with John, the elevation should not make a difference. That is only about 0.55 psia difference in air pressure, not enough to make a difference.
