"It can pull a two ton Chevy 5 Miles with the brakes on"....sounds like some drunk guy talking crap about his quad.

Its not. Actually its Yamaha's marketing machine describing prowess of the Tri moto 125...shocking yes!

B.S....who knows?

See the last sentence of paragraph 4:

I find that hard to beleive. I couldent pull my Ute which is 1.6 tonne with my 250es. However it was going up hill and it dident lack power just traction. With the right conditons these trikes are probably capable of big loads but a 175 towing a 2 tonne truck with a brake on? DOUBT IT.

My uncle pulled full size trees (75 footers) out of the swamp with his 200E Big Red. But in order to do so he added a 150 lb wegiht on the rear and 100 lb weight on the front and a person on the handle bars to do it. It had plenty of power just traction was a problem. Once you get it moving theres no stopping you.
This was rather intresting because when he first told me how we where gone get the trees out I said theres no way and we must have pulled about 30 trees out of there.
Just goes to show theres a will theres a way.

I've pulled huge logs with my big red, I just used a 3/4" hardened steel chain to do it.

My first trike was a BR, i dont rember what one, but it had H/L, no reverse, chain drive what letters come after the 250 I dont remember.

But anyway, my old man hada chevy pick up, with a bad fly wheel, and the bendix in the starter was shot, starting it was fun somtimes. he'd be turning the key I'd be under it turning the motor over by hand untill we found "the sweet spot".
I would tie it too his front bumper, put her in low and go by the time I hit 3rd his truck was started.

Oh.... if it was a chain Big Red, its a 200E.. either 82 or 83.

Maybe if the truck was on a 20º downhill on black ice?? :p

That website rocks... the webhost is a member of the board here actually... erussell. If you have any scans he's missing, it'd be cool to send them on to him to archive!

I used to ride (still have it) a 86 honda trx 200sx that pulled my dads 90 model 3/4 Ford longbed down the road at 35mph (thats what he said it was doing anyway). It took everything it had without any brakes applied so i dont really see that little 125 two-stroke doing the job. I know where one of those 125's are, maybe i should test this theory?????.........

amybe it was souped up a little bit!! thats the only thing i can think of..unless it had different sprockets to give it more torque..hell i didnt even know chevy made a 2 ton truck..i dont see how a 125 can even pull 4000 pounds.. then with the brakes on...maybe the brakes were out..ha

This is very very very weird, lemmie splain......

I was at my girlfriends house (and am now) when I made the above post 2 hours ago. I left here to go home and get my check out of the mail, bank lunch yada yada yada.... and my neighbors were donating a car too charity, the flat bed already ahd a jeep wagoneer on the bed, this was dodge neon and was going to be towed, the guy had pushed it out of the drive way and when I got there he had pushed it into about a foots worth of that nasty snow the plow leaves at the end of your driveway.

So as of an hour ago, I can state with absolute certainty, that a stock 85 200s, can pull a non running dodge neon out of the snow, and down the road a little way. :Bounce :TrikesOwn

I was jsut happy too have a reason to start it, lol.

when I had my 250SX, my friend and I found an old tractor, so we hoked it to the back, and he got on the tractor and I pulled him home.. it was fun.. i would turn a little bit, and he would drift like 5 feet out.. i had him screaming is arse off.. LOL

If you had a clutch after you got it rolling maybe a 3/4 ton on level ground. A 2 Ton???No way!! Maybe a 2 TONE truck. Like a brown and gold half ton Toyota.

Hahaha, when I read this post, this came to mind........

With the Yamaha tri-moto I can pull logs out of the woods where my pickemup truck can't get. Thats a fancy tractor. It ain't a tractor, its a Yamaha tri-moto. But it has little knobby tires like a tractor....It ain't a f&*kin tractor! :D :D :D

I pulled our '75 International Travelall (about 5000-5500lbs Im guessing...back when they made vehicles out of real, solid steel) with my old '87 SX UP our gravel driveway while my dad was sitting on the rear grab-bar for traction and my brother (300#) was in the Travelall steering and braking. It was hard to get started on the gravel, but she kept on chugging once rolling though.

"LET'S SEE PICS OF YOU PULLING STUFF WITH YOUR TRIKE!!!!!"?

In pulling its all about gearing and traction not really horsepower. On the trikes that have the Hi/Low option have good gearing on the low end for pulling. That is all I can image them ever putting low range on them because there is no way I could ever ride that slow.
Like I said in my previous post in order to pull the logs we had to add 350lbs of steel weight plus a rider on seat & hanlde bars to pull it off but we pulled them. Once you get them moving the trick is not to stop. Wish I had pics because never would have that the Red could pull it off either but it did.

I own a couple original Yamaha ads that claims they will pull the chevy 5 miles with its brakes on and also a motorhome. LoL Howdy, Billy... You want the ad for the site? I also have a YAMAHAULER ad or two. Not full color or full page though.

I've pulled a lot with the 200ES's...Just requires slow going in 1 Low and traction...

There you go Boys!

Belive it or not it is possible to pull quite a fair bit of weight with an old 200 I used to pull a full 500 gallon water tank trailer meant for a pickup or one of those golfcart/quad things with my 82. I remember once I was gathering lots of firewood for a bonfire and I had 5 or 6 huge logs chained to the rear hitch on it, plus I loaded up both cargo racks and the seat with short chainsawed logs, so to rode it back home stnding on one peg off to one side completely! Ah I have so much fun when I'm out at the farm. First term this year I took a photography class at school, and we could take pics of whatever we wanted, so my album was basically all my machines and pictures of my trikes.

A Honda 70 could pull a 5 ton truck on flat asplalt if the rider is heavy enough to provide traction.

But NO ATV/ATC...not even the Polaris 800 could tow a GEO Metro with its brakes on.

unless the brakes were only a little on..or just enough that the light was on then there is now way...2 tons sitting on 4 tires against maybe a 200 pound trike with maybe a 150 pound rider on 3 wheels...there is no way
