What is the funchtion of the 185S Decompression cable assembly?
Mine has not been hooked up for years. Is this important?

exactly like the term.. it helps releave some compression when you pull the rope to make it easier to start !

dont' need it ! very few have it working !

mine is totally gone! the hole in the head where it enters is plugged.i can pull it over no brob with it gone but my wife has difficulty. with it gone i notice it is harder on ropes and that metal grabber thingy that the recoil claws grab on to when you are pulling.

When you are starting it, pull it lightly through the inital "slack" part until it grabs. Then pull like crazy. This will stop you wearing out the pull start mechanisms as much. I have a 200 that is pull start and high compression and i start it with no decompression. It starts first pull but if theres something wrong and it doesnt, it sure wears you out quick!
