Some of you know I'm rebuilding an 86 350X. Well, I've made it to the point where the rear shock is only thing prevening me from having a rolling bike. I'm using a stock 86 shock. I've cleaned it really well with a Dremel and wire brush (+WD40). Here are my questions:

1. Is the entire shock and reservoir aluminum??? If it is, I won't paint it or coat it with Diamond Clear (Eastwood). I'm just don't want it to rust. I don't want to polish it. If it is steel, I'm going to coat it with Diamond Clear. Has anyone used Diamond Clear.....I have it on a few parts...seems good....not sure about long term though. Thoughts?

2. Where can I get a new steel braided brake line to run from the reservoir to the shock body (with the correct "ends")???

After I decide on the finish (if any) the whole thing is going to Works Suspension for a "Heart Transplant". Should be good after that. Thanks for you help guys.

The round cylinder reservior is aluminum and the mounts/ base and top are aluminum. The rest is steel. Hope this helps. :beer
