Sorry for delay in reply have been working for the past 19 hours. a burst pipe caused hetic chaos!
I have a 82 250r. wheel spin is when back wheels are going round but your not moving. causing skid mark and smoke... :TrikesOwn
Dammit!
01-16-2005, 02:18 PM
Well first of all you don't want to do that on pavement and make smoke unless you know what you're doing. A 250R will put you on your backside in a hurry if you screw up. As for how to do it, have you not ridden it yet? It will come pretty naturally to you once you get it out in the dirt. You'll probably do it on accident. The more common term is holeshot by the way.
you guys call burn outs' holeshots and wheelspins??....intresting, as for doing one on an R on pavement, not recomended unless you have some oil, and then it makes a biiiiig mess ;)

Sit on the handlebars, hold the front brake as hard as you can, put it in 2nd or 3rd gear, rev the motor and dump the clutch. :D

You tryin to kill him? LMAO
I've tried them on my 85 T3 and it isn't that hard, if you can start out with wet and dirty tires its easier still. Keep in mind 3 out of 4 times the front wheel has come off the ground under power. Try to learn on dirt first.
Heres a pic of my buddy on his pumper. Oil under the back tires. :w00t:

In time you should be able to do this without the oil.

Thanks guys. mud and gravel id be doing it on.
ive rode my trike. but newbie to it i picked my 82 up for cheap. needed re-bore and piston etc. so im getting used to it at the moment. and now with my new born its hard to get time especially with working so at the moment i jump on it when i can well i cant at the moment as im waiting on the piston.
but ill try it on the dirt. and see what happens. when you say dump the clutch do you mean let it out quick?
how long do you tend to do holeshots' for. a few seconds?

Dumping the clutch is exactly that, letting the clutch out real fast instead of easing it out. As for how long? Do it as long as you want, keep in mind your wearing treads if on pavement. So if your just on gravel or mud, see how long you can keep the burnout goin. Good Luck.

thanks ill need it lol!
I thought if you let the clutch out to fast it will cut out? or wheelie...
Dammit!

If you're not reving the engine it will. Get your weight forward over the tank, hit the gas and pop the clutch. If it's on loose dirt or gravel there shouldn't be much risk of it getting too much traction and coming up on you.
if you let the clutch out too fast without givin it suficint throttel it WILL cut out, and unless your on the handel bars it WILL wheelie....lol

lol. thanks guys.
wont it damage the engine if you rev it hard and pop the clutch out? or is it fine to do

its fine, like dumping the shifter on a semi-automatic.

ok thanks....
do the 82R have a wet clutch (no need to use clutch when changing gears. only use clutch for pulling off)

Oh boy.
An "R" wouldn't be the best trike too learn on, WEAR A HELMET PLEASE!!!!!
I guess it depends on how heavy you are, how good your front brakes are, and how big your balls are, lol:P
But with the power the 250r has, in dirt or gravel just letting the clutch out and mashing it should break the tires free and throw up a roost.

Please don't become another statistic.... especially with a newborn. Go out and ride your R for awhile and get use to it before becoming an Evil Kinevil trickster.
If we don't see posts from you for a day or two, we'll be praying! :p

A Holeshot is when you shoot in front of everybody off the start. I had the same argument 25 years ago with my friend Jimmy Starr in 8th grade. OK 30 years ago!
Dammit!
01-17-2005, 03:20 PM
I've had that same argument too. A burn out can only be done on pavement so in the dirt it's a holeshot. On the track it means something else. Hey it's better than wheel spin. :p :D

pavement = burnout .. requires smoke from the tires !!!
holeshot = being first out of the gate ( fitst outa the hole )
donut = spin in circles with tires spinning.
wheelspin = bald tires.. get new rubber !! LOL..
