I see you guys mount your trikes in the upright postion when you load trikes on to the trailers. does anything happen engine wise?
what i mean does the carb needle stick. does petrol leak out? etc
once had a *@#! and when i put it upright to tighten the skid plate it wouldnt start and then it would loose power...
Also when you strip trike. is it easy to disemble. and assemble. i want to mess about with the frame and parts. i dont want to mess with the engine please bear in mind.

I can tell you from experiance that it is very easy to disassemble your wheeler. it's pretty much easy to take anything apart! Trouble is putting it back together. I found when I broke mine down that it was a whole lot easier keepin track of your parts, nuts bolts, etc if you stick them in LABLED ziplock bags or boxes. Also a good clymer manuel is worth its weight in gold. Yes try to stay clear of the motor if ya don't know what your doin, I took that completely apart, I mean sliptin the cases to inspect the tranny and piston and such, and ended up so frustrated that I took it to the local shop to get reassembled-A costly mistake.

thanks. ive got a haynes manual and i have a clymers on the way!
all i want to do is strip everything and clean it up as it looks terrible at the moment. you can really tell it looks 21 years old!
The engine i wont need to mess with as im having a re-bore and new piston. all i want to do is paint or polish the engine as its red at the moment with worn patches

well ,,, i like to put my machines i'm working on ,,, on top a 55 gallon barrel.
it makes it a whole lot easier on my back + knees.
i have a short strap i put around the foot peegs ( heavy rope works too ) and i use a come-a-long suspended from the ceiling to hoist them up and then i can slide the barrell under.
i was looking at a.t.v. lifts but they just didn't go high enough and a barrell is a heck of alot cheaper too.
below is a example pic from a project last winter.

Assuming nothing is wrong with your trike, tipping it upright won't hurt anything at all. Just remember to turn the gas valve off. The remaining gas in the carb will leak out but there's not much in there. If you have a completely full tank of gas some might leak out the cap vent. A friend of mine didn't have quite enough room in his garage for his trikes so he used to park them upright against the wall. Did that for years with no problems.
As for taking the thing apart, if you have a manual and a decent memory it's simple. If you have a digital camera take a bunch of pics first so you have a refference when putting it back together.

thanks. so if i turn it up right make sure the petcock is off!
if i was to turn it up right and have problems after. (bare in mind. petcock on) what would it most likely be. or is it one of them 101 problems?

I can't think of anything that would cause a problem short of maybe fuel or oil getting somewhere it shouldn't be. What kind of trike is it?

The only thing I can think of, and it's a huge long shot, is maybe the unburnt 2-stroke oil that collects down by the crank is creeping past your rings (are they worn?) when you tip it upright. That would make it hard to start. Or maybe the float is getting stuck?

well im getting new piston and rings. so that wont be the problem. hehe :)
If i tip it up right and it bogs or what ever. i think i should know whats wrong. id say the fuel isnt flowing like normal causing it to bog or what ever.... laugh and tell me if im wrong :D
Dammit!

When you said this happened when you tipped it up to tighten a skid plate, I assumed it wasn't running when you did it and you had a problem getting it started again. Are you saying it has this problem while it's running? Other than riding a wheelie I can't imagine why you'd be doing that.

the quad was months ago. i was up the lake near me and when i was going over the trails my skid plate was clanging and it was hanging off so when i got to the car park i turned it off and lifted it up on to the grab bar and done the skid plate. and i just had a thought why it was damaged now.... i didnt turn the fuel off.... maybe.....
but it wouldnt start there and then. i didnt try much just tryed kicking it over 3-4 times. then loaded up and went. then left it for a day and it would start but just bog. no power on top end...
then it got stolen......

Sometimes, if you pull a 3 o'clock wheelie and motor stalls as you are picking yourself back up it does make it hard to start floods out, just turn the petcock off and crack the over flow on the bottom of the carb. wait a minute, and it should fire right up.

3 oclock? you mean going straght then wheelie 90 degreez (in other words you bail)

LOL
A 3 o'clock wheelie is when you're pulling a wheelie and accidently go back too far and bust you arse:P
Sometimes it falls back down sometimes it just sits there on end.

This bike DOES have a grab bar installed on the back right?

A grab bar is the arse saver for a nasty 3:00er! My big red has a trailer hitch, so I sorta use that as a wheelie bar sometimes. If you don't have a grab bar and pull a real good wheelie you might be slightly uncomfortable.......

Once it happens a few times, before your butt even hits the ground your feet will be straight up in the air pointed at the gas tank ready to catch it in case it does, but it usually doesn't go all the way back unless you were going really fast, or going up hill.

Get yourself a nice PRM Baja Bar .... My gas stuck on my R the other day, and the trike went straight up, dumped me off the back, and then just came back down on all 3's. You won't regret it! The Showgirl 350X has an old school 6-Pack Baja Bar. Stay away from the Desert Bars.... they are designed for sand..... stronger than your frame and will bend your frame on pavement/dirt/gravel.

not for trade or sale.... they are still available from PRM Products. Go buy yourself one! I got mine through a dealer of them. I got the 250R Baja and a new 350X 6-Pack Baja together for $80. Someone recently had a link to their website on here.
