I am so excited I can't even work today. I'll be a mess until it gets here.
I used to dream about these things and to find one stock just blows me away. I have been staring at my old 86 250R brochure. I got it in late 1985 at the ATV and Motorcycle Expo. at the Astrohall in Houston, Texas.
Man this feels like the day I was waiting around to pick up my 1982 185S...
I go into motorcycle shops today and nothing really gets me excited. Everything that I loved is being replaced and standardized. No 500cc motorcross, no two strokes, no trikes....
anyway here is sample of whats coming....one I get it the will be tons of pics!

The best thing about it is that I feel like I can finally rest. I was searching and search for over 1.5 years.

I was searching for one, but I came across a aircooled. Those waterpumpers are hard to come by around here. I bet ill spend more than 1.5 years looking for one...

How about a trade??
Oh...and what are some good spots to ride around in Arizona? Any dunes?

Heh, no way I trade that R for anything. ;)
I haven't been to the dunes yet. Will be going soon (feels like I've been saying that forever). I just put that new carb and Rad Valve on so I have to get my jetting dialed in. After that it'll just be a couple minor things before she's ready to head down there. Gotta get a whip mounted and throw at least a new front spocket on there. Buttercup I guess is about 3 hours from here. Glamis is about another hour past that.
You're not in AZ are you?

Dammit,
I read about your trials and tribulations with the new carb. I bet your 'R' will scream once you get that done.
I am going to drive through Arizona next month and was wondering if there were any dunes around.
If I see that Z one day I'll let you know.

Here are some more pics. I am waiting to get her from the shipping company. When I do then I'll have more.
I can gaurantee you one thing...I'll always keep her as clean as I can. This baby won't get ragged out.

Way cleaner than mine (mine is need of some good ole fashioned elbow grease). One of these days I'll get that motivated. Probably not until it's time for the frame to be powder coated though.
It's beautiful. You're gonna love it. :beer
I think you need a beater now though. Both your trikes are too clean to get dirty. :p

I'll betcha I've spent over 2 years just looking for a trike over 200cc (not including the 200X). There are NO trikes around here :wondering

Very clean R Darius. If you don't mind saying, what'd you pay for it?
Darius1502
01-14-2005, 01:15 PM
Well....
I did pay a premium for it. So I know alot of you guys will shoot me.
I figured I could get one for $1800 in Texas or Oklahoma but would end up spending $500 to $600 on plastic, paint, etc.
So I decided to spend a little more. Business has been good and I need a reward. I spent $2500.

I'm sure a lot of guys will say you paid way to much for it, but that's the going price for one that clean here in CA. I sold an 85 R, that was almost that clean, for $1800 on ebay a few months back, so you got a pretty fair deal as that's one of the cleanest original R's I've seen in a long time.

Dammit!,
You 'R' looks pretty darn clean. About as clean as this one.
I am sure your's will destroy mine in a race...especially once you get that carb setup going.
I probably leave this one stock. That means one day I have to buy another one so I have my 500 sabertooth jug on it!

Well another way to look at it is this. You practically paid $205 for a trip back to 1986 to buy a brand new one for the retail price of $2295. Not a bad deal if you ask me. :)
Although you should have picked me up one of those slutty 80's heavy metal groupies while you were back there. I miss them. :(

It isn't. The camera can be kind. It's flaws are minor though. Just some surface rust here and there that needs to be sanded off and polished up (mostly around the rear axle, sprocket and brake mounting hardware). I need to get some new shrouds too. Mine are cracking around the bolt holes pretty good. Had a local shop do some plastic welds on them trying to save them since they're original but it actually made it worse. The frame and pegs need to get some powder coat loving too.
It rips though. I figure if I make it just a little bit faster maybe the rust will fly off. :w00t:

Yeah I would love some of those groupies from the Poison video....
I did manage to pick me up a pair of parachute pants however...

Very nice and clean R, congratualations. I would have paid that amount and more for that trike. It looks like it hardly has any time on it. Way to go.
