Well, I WAS going to put my NOS tank scoops on for the photo shoot but I dont have any of the little screws :( I found some but they weren't long enough, oh well. In a few of the pictures is also my 200x and that aircooled 250R I bought a little bit ago.
The one picture that is a close up of the frame area, with some of the paint missing is where I am hiding all of my electrical stuff :) That cover with part of the coil sticking out is actually the air dam that catches air and runs it into the airbox on a stock 350X. I couldn't find anywheres to mount the XR500 CDI since it is odball size and shape, so it got mounted actually inside the frame, and the coil mounts on the backside of that cover, and the cover bolts back onto the frame with some small tabs I made. Pretty nifty if I might say so myself.
You'll also notice that even though the frame was lengthed 3 inches, the 500 is not that much taller then the 84 R, even though it has larger tires. I've been just about driving myself nuts to try and keep everything as low as possible (For handing purposes). The forks are not slid up in the clamps any either, when I go to 20's (The trail pros are for rolling around the shop only) and raise the forks, It will be at a very manageable height and I dont think it will be anymore tippy then a normal 350x.
Kicker and brake pedal need a little bit of warming and bending to get into proper posistion. Kicker hits on the bottom bolt that holds the mastercylinder against the frame right now. If I keep cranking it over and running it the head will be worn off and I wont have to worry about it :naughty:

The tank admittinly looks out of place, but it looks 100% better with the scoops on it. After all my fitment is done (Soon, hopefully...) everything will be torn back down and I'll take it to a powder coater over in Jacksonville. I think instead of doing the frame black again I'll go red, do black tank and seat cover, rest of the plastics red. Have the Honda wing logo airbushed onto the side of the tank in red...oughta be good.

The name "Frankentrike" immediately comes to mind. With the stitched fender and everything. :)
Love the front tire on the 200x by the way. :D

You could put that 200x front tire on the 500x....you won't need it since the front wheel will be off the ground 90% of the time anyway!
I would love to see someone take a 350x and make it up like an 1987 200x. Get some white shrouds and get a sticker shop to make some '500x' stickers and place them diagonal on the tank and shroud.
No matter what colors people think look good...I love the factory look. Imagine the 500x with this color scheme:http://www.3wheelerworld.com/pppics/satc200x063x200x63.jpg
I am not a huge fan of much black on off road vehicles...to hard to keep looking good.
You did a hell of a job, though and its going to be awesome

That would be a cool color scheme.....Hmmm. White plastic is readily available from Maier.... Might just do that :D
The exhaust is another "trouble" area. Its got a modified 350X cobra pipe on it now, and yes, it is loud, very very loud. I definetly want a full exhaust on it as soon as I can. The problem is that the exhaust bends have to be such a tight radius that it will be hard to bend them with a normal pipe bender. I'm contemplating taking it to an exuast/muffler shop and seeing if someone can help me out with it. For a muffler I plan on using the slip-on on Hagen made for a while back. It will work good in conjunction with where the kicker goes and stuff.

The 87 X scheme would look awsome. I like how you mocked everything up before you painted or did anything for cosmetics, functionality before looks. I love the video of it running, looks like a pain to kick. lol What all have you done to the motor or is it stock? She looks good, the ride height should be great when you get the 20's on it, some spacers would cure any instability anyhow.

Gonna look sweet man, now weve got 500r's AND 500x's, look out 4-stroke quad guys! I bet you could whoop most 4-stroke quads, more cc's+less weight, you just gotta do the math and the trike comes out on top!

Motor has alot of stock parts in it except for the piston which is a Wiseco, 10.25:1. I changed the reeds in it, but I dont remember if I used the Boyesen super stocks or if I went with a performance pair. XR's Only makes a cool 540cc big bore kit I was thinking about along with a cam and oversized valves, would be neat to do in the future.

LOL,this is where people start thinking your crazy, sounded weird to me to at first, surprisingly the thing does though. I personally really like the black / red color scheme (you may be able to tell from my past rides ;) ), to comment on what someone said.. black is hard to keep looking good.. It is cake compared to keeping white bright. I just think nothing could look better then glossy black and red shineing in the light. Plus the white is a little overplayed. I like to stick out a little. Either way, it should look killer.

I agree, White is a pain.. :naughty:
So why not combine the original black and red Idea with the cool graphics.
Just to help you visualize it, it would look something like this. I think it looks pretty Shweet :D

with reeds on a 4 stroke just make sure you check your valves often...get a little blow back thru the intake and it will shatter the reeds...looks killer tho
