I just dont get the appeal unless its pure nostalgia. Were they better than the bikes produced by the big 3? Faster, better handling? They sho is ugly! Please understand this isnt a flame just I am curious. I think the pre 86 Tecates are ugly too but I like em.

I think because of the RARITY of these machines as compared to the other makes, not to mention that they were (from what I have read and heard) very formidable in the day.

As far as UGLY, hell I ride KLT's. You can't get any uglier than that, but damn they are fun. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hmmm.....that HP to wieght ratio sounds cool. Explains the fascination some. They definitly are a rarity...but can you actually ride one hard and not worry about not being able to find a part you might break?

I'm in love with the Cagiva and 200r, but a Tiger is easier to find. And they were made in MN, I'm from MN so that'd also be kind of cool. I have a friend thats from around Eagan where they were made, he doesn't remember them. He isn't too big into ATV's anyway, so that might be why.

BIGKAHUNA, good quistion. why would ya want one.

i would want one cuz you just don't come across one every day,,
they where made for one purpose in mind - winning !
to me if i had one,,, i am winning. i can ride like a nut but just don't have skills to put a machine (like that) in the front of the pack but heck, i like going into the garage and tinkering and looking at what i got as much as riding.
there are a couple of other machines i want to have and only a couple of folks on the board have em now. someday,,,

I am bringing mine to haspin, but if you think I will be taking it in the woods, forget it. To answer your question NO. Just like a REAL aluminum bodied 427 Cobra, they are not daily drivers. If you can only afford or keep one trike, the Tiger is not for that type of person. I have had mine almost a year, and ridden in 3 times. I got plenty of trikes to ride, The Tiger is a special occasion machine. I want to bring it to haspin so others that have never seen one can see it in person.

Just out of curiosity, who made Tigers. Tiger? I love Rotax, SeaDoo, Skidoo. I know that most Rotax comes with Bombardier. Who makes Tiger motors? I knew about these in their day, it brings me back to watching the races back in '85.
Thanks,

One guy that was on the board about 2 weeks ago had a Tiger. He gave me a email address to a place in Cali that has motor parts for them. He told me he called the place and got a kick start and a carb boot for his Tiger 250. I asked him what he'd do if his Tiger blew up. he told me he fix it... so it sounds like that place makes pistons and such too.

Yes, Tiger made Tigers. Rotax made the motors that powered Tigers. In the articles it says they make their own axle, frames, tripple clamps. But in another article I read it sounded like the 500 has a dura blue axle.

I can't wait to see the picture of Mr.ATC doing a 1 footer on the TIGER!!! LOL
I bet it would be better to see look on HOLICS face after that, than Johns look w/ the "BIGRED 1 footer"!!

I just want to see it run around the yard Holic, maybe take a SLOW lap myself.
