Well since I'm waiting on parts for the Tri Z that I would go ahead and teardown the aircooler this afternoon to install my new topend and DG head. turns out the cylinder I had in there was on it stock bore. Wow! I was told when I got it that it was punched out for the start of the bigbore pistons. I guess I should of took the head off to check.lol
I installed the superscoops I won off of ebay before I tore it down, I think I like them. I was also thinking about going with a 350x headlight also. what do you guys think?

I was drooling over this one the other day. I've been looking up pics of the aircoolers b/c I'm waiting to get one. Anyway, REALLY nice ride....I would leave the headlight like it is. I haven't really researched it but I think I remember reading about problems switching to the 350x lights. I could be wrong--nice trike!

Well I dropped in the cylinder tonight. I installed new studs in the base also. Now I have to rig up the intake for a boost bottle. The cylinder I yanked off of there was ported bigtime, I think I going to be disappointed with this one. Its all stock bored .080 over. I'll run it for a while and get the other ready for when it goes.

It took a little time to polish the motor, I've been told a stripped motor will cool better than a painted motor.
I put her all back together afterwork today. Fired right up! I was hoping to take it on our trip this weekend but its suppose to have freezing rain here this weekend and I don't want to have to deal with towing a trailer. Oh well I did'nt want to have to rejet it anyway.

I may have missed it but why did you decied to put on a new cylinder? Did you strip the gold paint from the DG head, would that have been sand blasted if so?

I was getting a little piston slap, And I had another cylinder ready to drop in, And I'll just do the same with the cylinder I took off get her ready for next time. Yep, thats a DG head. the gold on it was trashed, So I got the brilliant idea of stripping it. PITA!

Yeah it was mislabled, It was for the 83-84R I forgot to have mine powdercoated with the frame, so I figured I'd get that one.

Awsome job Dave, the head looks great polished. Porting makes such a difference so you'll definately feel it in the seat of the pants.

Cool then... I didn't see where it worked on a 82R but when I bid, you were outbid and at 3.50, I figured I could use it for something! Or maybe it was a rare aftermarket thing... glad it worked out for you!

I'm not trying to be ignorant, but are those scoops for a 200X because they don't seem to fit at all? Seems like they hang way off the bottom of the tank.
Also, why is it sitting so high in the back?

That'd be cause of the Westcoast Swinger he has on it.... it's extnded for 1 and it has multiple mounting positions for the shock. Look at the pic he posted up when I was talking about that brace.
