I have a 1983 200e I just got running. I can't shift it into neutral I can only get it to 2nd or 3rd. I can get it started in gear and when I try and go it bucks forward a bit but acts like the brakes are applied and won't go forward in high or low. No the brakes are not seized thats just what it acts like. I can push it forward by hand and it rolls the motor over, when I use compression release, and not running of course. Any ideas? I am a little apprehensive about tearing into it without some sort of idea of what to look for. Thanks Rod

Checked the oil ? stupid answer i know.. but hey.. S... happens.
check the mesh filter on the oil plug to see if you got metal shards going on ..
was it running fine before.. or did this just happen all of a sudden?

I recently purchased it for a mere $25 and just got it running. Never have driven it. I'll check the screen. The oil is good.

Olean eh? I'm just an hour from you. Let us know what you need. Only thing I have in that regards is a 185s motor, but I'm not sure if the sub tranny would go on that, or if the main gears inside are the same or not to a 200.
