im not exactly sure, but i think the only differences between the 86 and 85 are the transmision and the coolant overflow. I am convinced that the rear axle assembly should swap out

thanks for the response....I have an 86 with no axle, so I want to check around before I buy anything.

forks are larger on the 86 too. I would think that the axles are the same. Someone must know for sure.

Same axle for 85/86 TriZ as well as the early model Banshees. Im not sure about the later Banshees.

an 85 and 86 axles are the same. and yes a banshee axle will work. i have a LSR +4 banshee axle on my 85 Z. plus i know that there were only a few differences between 85 and 86. like the others said the triple tree, forks frame and over flow bottle were different. not to mention the 85 5 speed to ther 86 6 speed. othewr then that all is the same. a banshee sprocket hub fits as well, and the sprockets them selves as well. hope this helps mike from long island

Hey Mike, do the later Bnahsee axles work? Mines form a 88, but Banhsee change dthe carrier after that, and I wasnt sure if it was the same. Also, for more info, the rear brake disk and carrier for a Banshee will not work.

.... as far as I can tell, Yamaha only recently changed the Banshees axle and I believe its to a Raptor unit.

well i know the sprocket hub will fit. i have one on my 85 Z right now.plus i used the sprocket too. of course the carrier wont fit.as for the 88 axle i am unsure about that.i had an 89 and i know it was the same as my 2000. sorry good luck mike i have a 39 inch banshee axle from LSR not sure how much it is extended over the stock. well talk to ya later
