I'm having a weird problem with the pull starter binding up on my 225DX. It has a new rope, it's wound tight enough and everything is lubed up. Sometimes when I pull the rope it won't go back in. I can either pull it out more and sometimes it will go back in or I can loosed the housing from the motor then it goes right back in. Also the pulley that the rope winds up on it plastic and worn through in one spot. So I need to know where to get a new pulley. I'm sure this could be the problem but it was fine before I put a new rope in it. Makes no sense.

I had the same problem with my 200s...it turned out to be that the piece where the cord wraps around was cracked and bending when I would pull on it...did you check yours?just an idea...

That must be the problem with mine then. On this Yamaha the rope wraps up on a peice of plastic, not metal but it is worn through in one spot, not sure how that could happen.
So I need a new pulley (I guess that's what you call it).
Some one has to make these things, it's plastic http://www.stlmustangs.com/forums/html/emoticons/jerkit.gif and it's used to turn over the engine so I'm sure a lot of them break.

Yes someone does make them. Yamaha Motors does! I have not found a aftermarket company for the yamaha pull starters.
I think I may have an extra one if, not then my brother has it I will check to see if it is good.
