the best explanation i could find.
http://www.thunderproducts.com/dial_a_jet.htm
basically its there to eliminate jetting problems and also by spraying a fine mist of fuel/air into the engine before the carb can put the heavier, poorly atomized fuel in...kind of like a fill in.

its kinda like a fuel injector made for a carburator...something like a throttle body ud find on a car

i think that a dial-a-jet combined with an icat www.icatusa.com http://www.4strokes.com/reviews/icat/ would be some of the most cost effective mods available...also would the dial a jet be able to hadle the premix fuel.

I almost dropped the cash on one (despite not really being able to afford it, lol) a while ago. Didn't like the idea of drilling a hole in my carb so I didn't do it. Still curious though.
i belive a few members have them on thses boards...and from what i hear there a must have to keep your machine running tip top all year round...i was consideing one a while back...but then stuff happend..lol

fairly new...and quite expensive, but the benefits outway the price IMO. i might ask around about dial-a-jet on two strokes.

It won't make you go faster or have more power, it just makes it easier to tune. I've never played with one but I know a couple of back-yarders that got rid of them because they felt like they were junk. Personaly I'll just change a jet the ol' fasioned 5-min way when I need to.

dam! i like that icat thing..that looks like it would help any engine start faster..imagine getting enough of those for your car..u got a 4 banger get 4 of them and install them..that would be bad ass in winter..lol

WOW....$205 for that iCat thingy. Dayum. I think it's B.S. personally. Just like the "Tornado fuel saver" for cars.

for 69.99 i can get a whole lotta jets and then have jets for when i want to do other stuff. dial-a-jet isnt on any race bikes, so i dont think i need one

the icat seems like a performance coil or ignition for a car, which normally gives no real horsepower gains, but large increases in throttle response and starting. id like to give it a try but not at the cost.
they make the dial a jet for two strokes its supposed to be pretty good, they also have a test on the dial a jet in the new dirt wheels mag they felt it was worth the wild of buying it.

Ya I here you. I dont ever need to change mine unless I put on a new mod. Dont race any circut.Ride my trike at pretty much same altitude everywhere I ride.Hydrolic clutch would be better spent money for me .

I have heard great things about the icat, from a friend of a friend to a test report in Motocross Action magazine a while back. I am wanting to try it on my CR and ATC250R. The cost bites though. Motocross Action tried it on a YZ250 and a CR125R with good results. Better throttle response and said the bikes felt perfectly jetted or tuned to a higher state. They said it is worth the money and recomended it. MA will not recomend a product if it doesn't work. I am going to try one sooner than later and will let yall know how it works if somebody doesn't beat me to it.

My 200x has suddenly gotten really low on power in the bottom end. I think this is due to a leak where the header meets the muffler. I was thinking of maybe just rejetting and running it the way it is, because only about 30% of the exhaust flow is escaping from the leak. If I purchased a Dial-A-Jet would it help me tune it in to the right mixture to run this way?

I think hes talking about me pressuring pics of his bike ? Or he thinks were asses??? Well not up on 4 strokes but I think back presure from the pipe is important. May want to stick with the leak.

A-camp, I thought your reply truly was funny about the camera (you know I'm taking my sweet time about it), I am just going along with you. Jakey, I didn't know you were being serious about the 200X leak, I thought you were making fun of the Dial-a-jet product. I don't think yall are arse's at all. I think you two are funny and into having a good time. Like me. :w00t:

I have a dial-a-jet on my Z and im very pleased with it. You do not have to drill into the carb if you dont want to, you can put it on the boot. I have much cleaner throttle response and the jetting is dead on. I love it!!!

Ok got ya Apollo, but from what I hear from everybody who owns a dial a jet and from magazine reviews it seems to be a quality product that works.

I'm going to try a Dial-a-jet also now, after the icat. I love to try new things. The Power Nows works also, I use it in my CR250R and love it. It helps on throttle response and low speed situations. Below half throttle is where it shines, it is faster getting on pipe if your just lugging around. I had to use a smaller slow jet because of the added flow.
Dammit!

That's perfect. Thanks. Now that I know you don't have to drill your carb I'm interested in these again.
Any complaints about it at all?
Something else I'm wondering about is, are the kits bike specific? Carb specific or what? In other words, if I bought one for my 250R with a stock carb but bought something like a larger Air Stryker later, could I move the dial-a-jet to the new carb?
Sorry about all the questions.

They are all universal for the 2 stroke. They have diffrent kits that have one or two in them. I got a good deal on mine $15 new on ebay.
