How do you go about doing this?

the right way would be get a spark checker, the shadetree way would be to pull the plug outta the engine, put the plug wire onto the plug, and put the other end of the plug (electrode side) to the engine block, turn engine over you want to see a nice blue/white spark... orange is weak.

There is nothing wrong with the shadetree way. Just make sure you are holding the plug wire when doing this. If you touch the metal housing of the spark plug, you will know if there is juice without looking for a spark.... It also helps if you have someone else help. One pulls the engine over, the other holds the plug.

theres nothing wrong with it is right.. i do it that way just because im lazy lol... and as theolderfox said.. its good to have a friend around.. in my case tho i find a friend that is totally clueless about engines and get em to grab hold of the plug lol... if they jump, i got spark hehehwhhahahahahah
