so i started polishing some stuff.. yea i think it looks kinda neat.. i tried the chrome powder coat on a peice of stock billet and it just doesnt look as nice so polishing it is.. i got the carb bowl finished, here is a pic

Figure ill do the carb, leave the motor alone, just do little peices here and there to get it to stand out a bit from the rest..

I also powder coated the 225's brake perches, i dont have pics of them yet but i will.. came out decent..

oh well just bored and thought id post that lol

all by hand.. 320, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, mothers aluminum polish, took me bout 20-30 minutes to do that.. not a hard job, just tedious.. i have a buffer, but i dont use it much, i have a habit of having parts fling outta my hands.. i just do it by hand and get a bit better result

what is gonna be hard is the actual carb, in between the KEIHIN is gonna be a real pain in the arse... not to mention the other little nooks and crannys on that thing.. i thought about doing the whole motor, but i think that would make it look cheesy.. just a few parts here and there.. to kinda set it off from the rest.. sorta like a car motor, you wouldnt chrome the whole thing, just a few peices here and there to kinda dress it up a little..

I've never done it before but have been intending to do a few parts (front forks mainly). Is that just standard sand paper or is it a special type or what? And what do you use to apply the polish?

just standard automotive wet/dry sand paper from 3m and the polish i just put on a rag, rub till it turns black, wipe it off and thats what it comes out as lol.. pretty simple but if your not used to working with your hands then it maybe a little hard.

well i jut had to copy you quickonstep, i polished up a cdi cover and case saver for my 200x, after seeing your post, i whent up to 3000 grit sandpaper and wet sanded it all i started at 320 and gradually moved to 3000 grit, the parts ended up turning out looking excellent i will take pics of them when i put them on the trike.
