Howdy Folks,
Well after 9 months I am beginning to put this 250es together. I am not at all happy with how it is turning out and it is very disheartening for me because I have so much money and time into it. Sure it looks good from the pictures, but that old saying "good from far, far from good" comes into play :p
It still needs alot of work although it doesnt look like it. I still need to get the tires off the rims to be sandblasted and painted, get the sidepanels redone in red, get the tank redone, the tripple trees redone, handbrake setup fixed, set of fork boots, compliance plate sticker and various other body stickers redone, seat stencilled "honda", more electroplating to do, get a new battery, buy a full set of new fenders, rebuild "project hot motor" and do a bit of detailing here and there. BTW, the motor in it now is only temporary, i have a nice one on the way...
I will admit I am getting sick of redoing it, but im not going to give up because it would be such a waste. I am also doing up my ute too so thats where the money factor is a big issue!
I know I am a perfectionist but I cant help it! Wish I wasnt though
Man Im having a big cry, you guys dont need this...Give me some reassurance that i will finish this project and it will be good ;)
ANYWAY here are a few pics to show ya how its all going.
Tips and Pointers would be great!

my bigred250 took along time also + there are sevral things i'd like to re-do but ,,, well i don't want to take it apart again at this point in time.
looking good as far as i'm concerned matt ! heck,,, you remember what i had to work with don't you ???

Matt keep it going bra, its looking great. I am just too lazy to do all that and plus I would need a place to work on it, but since the 3rd car garage is full of trikes, I need to build a shop. Keep up the good work, that way guys like me can find nice mint ones out there. Heres a pic of my almost mint 85 250es(minus the tank).

Looking good so far man. You are miles ahead of me! I still need to get all my new performance parts, paint the thing, get new plastics and decals, brakes redone, new seat cover+foam, new headlight, and new wiring. Then all I have to do is bolt it together. There is some good news though! After several hours with a putty knife, toothpicks, and gods gift to man gunk engine brite, I discovered that there are actually some useable trike parts under the grease!

Matt I have been messin round with those Hondas for a while now, I have an 86 Big Red 250 ,it runs like a top. The problems I have had with the Machines are mainly the starter and the gears inside messhing and gathering down on the coils more or less destroying them over time, thats where I removed the gears in side and use the kick start the coils are too hard to get .The next problem is in the kick starter it seems over time and I mean years, that one day you will go to kick start the bike and there seems to be something not working like the kick start is not grabbing.I finally figured out the problem after a while . It is the one way bearing on the back of the flywheel.Icall it a sprauge type bearing ,replace that bearing and you get full kick back to the bike. And last the rear ends or differential I am after blowin up 2. I dont know why but all the boys say its from the catwalks but hey thats why them bikes are so fun , not to mention that me with the old bike drivin circles and I mean it around all the BIG BIKES......LOL....in the bogs..you just keep pickin at that bike and when you get er runnin top it will be worth it.

Looks good, keep up the good work! Buy the way can I ask what you are doing to the motor? HOT MOTOR? Just wondering cause I built my orginal motor up to a 305cc or something like that with a web cam, heavy duty valve springs & retainers port & polished head & bigger piston of course...but now I am back to a completly stock motor that I just got off of ebay, & I must say the stock motor is way nicer, but I did notice a big loss in power. I prefer the stock motor with a heavy duty clutch.
