First let me start of by saying that all the people that said that Id be addicted to this site, you were right, its now my homepage and Im checking back evrey 15 minutes or so...
Ok the questions:
What would you guys say about this exaust kit on Dennis Kirk...http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=44140&store=Main&productId=p44140&catId=&leafCatId=
Give me some extra info or experience that youve had with it...and also tell me if the power gains were significant...oh, and also if there are any exaust kits that YOU would recommend for a 85 200X...
2nd question...When I try to start the bike, the kick starter slips, alot, Ive searched the forums and found 2 very informative, yet confusing (for a "new guy") threads, both saying the same things coming out of diffrent people...now I was wondering if the starter is ruined or its just the cold (-22 celsius) that is doing this, I will say straight up that I cannot stand it wen it happens, some times it happens 3,4 times in a row...yes its frusterating but the bike does get started eventually...now I would like to know whats causing it, what the simplest way to fix it is, and if there is no simple way, what is the way to fix it...
Thanks alot, I appreciate it,

What exactly is it doing? I know you said slipping, but more info would help. I just replaced my 350x kicker assembly. My return sprins were broke.

I'm having the same problem with my 85' 200x, after taking the motor out and completely apart I found that the kickstarter spring (looks like a heavy duty s-shaped spring) was broken. So I ordered one and tried to install it (not very expensive $7 or so) but I broke the one end off in the process. So I took the unassempled motor to my local repair shop, asked them to order another one , go over the entire motor to make sure everything was OK and then reassemble it for me. Well that cost me $170 for parts and labor and it is still doing the same thing. It doesn't seem to be catching and it goes all the way down. I started a thread yesterday asking the same question, I thought maybe the bike had to be in 1st gear or something (the bike was not running when I bought it) all the guy told me I might have to catch it in gear to start it. It is very frustrating! I know my reply has not helped any but I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. Someone told me not too long ago that this was a common problem with the 200x. I'm about ready to sell mine!!!

Ok, thanks for the replies guys, firstly, let me start off with the exhaust...Id like an exhaust thats not too loud, for obviously noise issues...and I live in a small neighboorhood where I dont think people would appreciate a loud thing buzzing by evrey so often...but what the hell, if I see some more people like it and give me feedback, I will buy it...
2nd issue, as for some specifics, when I kick the kick starter its like grinding teeth on gears...now Im thinking its one of two things or both...Im thinking its either the ratchet or pinion gear...im positive its teeth grinding on gears...you would go for a normal kick, get NO combustion and get all grinding, pisses me off evrey time not only cause it doesnt start but because I know something is not working properly...Ive got a shop manual so I know whats in the kick starter itself....
Thanks again and :TrikesOwn
Edit: And BTW, If anybody has some sites with exhaust systems for sale, post em up, Id like to see some more prices/variety...Thanks agian

I think yo ushoudl get a Dg RCM or Krome exhaust. The cobra is realy loud. I got a friend that has one on his 86 200X and its as loud as a straight pipe.

My but did a similar deal my clutch basket loosened up and worked back on the shaft and some times it would work some times i would push it to start it I tightened up the basket and its fine, or it could be the fact that the plastic gear for the ratchet could be worn. But in cold weather the oil is to thick to engages the ratchet mechanism so maybe you could warm it up then pu thinner oil in.

If the kicker returns back up after you start it or kick it, the springs are fine. Sound like the gears on your kicker could possibly be bad or the tranny gear it runs on. Another possibility is that someone had it torn down before and left the thrust washers off. That can cause problems. There is prob one at the very end of the shaft inside of the motor. My 350X has one. These not being there could possibly cause a alignment issue. There are 2 sets of gears that are on the kicker shaft. The one that runs with the tranny, and another one that is a bit different. Its like a really thick washer with teeth on one side with another washer with teeth on the side. Boths washer teeth mate up. If they are bad, I would imagine they would slip. The only time it would grab would be when the two sections of good teeth match up. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need to know more.

Right now I will take any info you can dish out...also, rustbucket, you have a good point that it amy be too cold and the oil may be too thick,,,

Just to clarify, they are not really washers, I just used that as a way to describe this particular pieces.

ok, looks like im gonna have to take the assembley apart, my brothers got a friend thats really good with small engines, I got the shop manual, with detailed schematics so it shouldnt be too much of a hassle...it just gets me pissed off...I gotta do something about it...I dont want this to continue all winter...hell, all the time...
With that parcially taken care of, lets move onto exhaust.,..again, this is the one I now want: http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=444048&store=Main&productId=p444048&catId=&leafCatId=
Some people have given me some feedback, which sounds great, and Id still like a little more...Thanks
