Has anyone done this ? What Jets to start with ?? I have a few extra carbs and intakes of 85 250r 's and a friend with a stock 84 who needs to go faster. Is a D.G. the pipe for him ?

I have an 83 also when I got it it had a 85 carb on it (34mm round slide) I hear the best carb upgrade would be a 38mm flatslide (Keihn PWK, or Mikuni TM). I upgraded to a 36mm Mikuni flatslide and she screams, my jetting hear in phx is a 55 pilot, and a 300 main(needle is @ sea level). I still had to put on a bigger front sprocket for more top end though(wish II had a 6speed). She's got clean response all the way threw though. Oh yeah but I'm running a DG pipe and silencer, boyseen reeds, and an open uni filter. Hope this helps!!

Oh as for the jetting neededd for the 85 carb mine had a 55pilot and 155 main. I think the 155 might have been to fat though but it's a start.

I'm planning to do this to my 83 as well. From what i've seen, I think i'm going to warm up the stock rubber intake and slip the new carb in and let it cool. The 85-86 intake is a different angle.

I want to know if that works . I was going to just not use an air box. Sand only for this guy.

Yea I was told the same thing. To put the intake in the oven to heat it up to stretch the boot over the bigger carb.
