i recovered the seat for my s by myself, it was pretty easy to do but where it starts going up over the tank the material is sort of raised up. on my yamahauler, i took it to get professionally done and it looks better than anything you can do by yourself. If you do it by yourself, you should probaly expect some wrinkles to be in the material.
it all depends on your budget what you decide to do.

i have redone sevral covers also. as long as the foam is in okay shape they have all turned out very well. pulling the old staples out of the seat pan is a time consuming chore.
i use a air powered stapler to secure the fabric of choice onto the seatpan
also ,,, one tip i can add is to use a spray adheasive on the foam. it really helps to hold the material down.
the rear corners are the only area i end up messing with to get the "puckers" out.

all 3 of the trikes below are seat covers i have done. the "r" in first pic hadn't been stapled down yet ,,,,

I did one also. Pretty easy. Stapled the front then the rear, then the sides. A good way to keep wrinkles out is to heat the cover up with a hairdryer. Makes it stretchy. Then staple it down stretched a bit, and it will look perfect. :beer

I worked 6 years making seats ( leather, fabric, Vinyl ). I learned a few tricks during this time. One trick to putting a new leather / Vinyl cover on: warm the cover up. When you warm it up the cover, it gets more flexible. With it more flexible you can stretch it over the foam easier.
Be careful though, you do not want to get it too hot. Just heat it up enough to make it plyable ( sp? ). You only want it warm. If it is HOT to the touch, it is too hot. Another thing: Do not over stretch the cover or it will rip.

Great input Howdy. I had mine done at the upholsterey shop. I tried a little and i can tell you after watching them do it A AIR stapler is key .A normal t-12 stapler was not going through plastic good.

I did mine myself, it took me a couple hours but it came out good. The key is to start at one end and stretch it towards the other end smoothing out any wrinkles.

throw the cover in your dryer to warm it up. worked good for me then i took an electric stapler and put mine on with it.
