View Full Version : 500r Question

My mate has just recently got himself a 500r. We have heard from a number of credible sources that the trike will simply rattle itself to peices because the cr500 engine doesnt have a balancer system in it, is this true??
If so, is there anything you can do to prevent this, like getting the frame hardened (might sound stupid, but just a thought)?
Also, it still has the original swin arm on it. Is it recommended to extend the swing arm? I could imagine it would be hard to keep the front down on that thing (it has had a bit of port work done to it aswell).
Any info will be much appreciated.
Thanks

theres a few people with this swap. they seem to have nothing but real fast experiences. and as far as the swinger goes, i'd put about 6in in it. just my 2 cents.

Even if you rubber mount everything its still gonna rattle. I do recommend rubber mounting everything though lol.

Its paddles but not (if that make sense), like slide paddles.
My mate has the same on his 250r and has a hard time keeping it down

  there is no way a 250cc trike will even come close to my 500,,,,, and it doesn't rattle itself apart either :D

Here is one that my friend built it also for sale for anyone that is interested. It is very unique because it is a Leager conversion kit from the early 90's.

4K is alittle rich for my blood, but i would love to make a 500R trust me nothn will touch him unless a triple shee rolls up. at glamis thanksgiving there was a atc425 ct motor and no one could touch him (he was burnin alky tho) so imagen a frikin 500 trust me the only way a 250R will win is its straped down to a porsche 911 turbo

Settel Down hot dog ! I like the 500r Casey that looks sweet . Do you go to the drags? Or just ride ? Ive seen 310 kits walk on any thing with half way normal fuel. if i ran that junk i could be king for a day . Just one. ha Casey your bike could be the problem to my theory if it runs like it looks.

hey a-camp race fuel DOES NOT make you faster ,,, unless you tune for it,,, remember OCTANE is control not power,,, my 500 has only been beat to the top of the hill a few times i would say less than 5% of the time .. i have ran several passes in the 300 with lights in the 4.5 to 4.9 range... but unlike alot of high zoot drag racers ,,,, i can go outy and play in the dunes all day jumpin and bumpin with the guys too

Kasey, you have one of the most well rounded bikes on here IMO, serves its purpose very well. Nice bike.

Ya I know about fuel, Not really talking about the mix but the ability to run it. And the duration between tear downs. I make my bikes as fast as I can get them and still start on the first kick. Have not broke on a ride in 5 seasons.I run 110 but my bike runs good on 89 with 197 compresion.Dont have any fancy specs like you but she comes on like the last fat chick at 2:00 am,quick and to the point.
