well my fenders are done. i made a GIF animation to show what the looked like before and after. this along with the front fender, gas tank cover and headlight, took me about 10 hours of non stop work. It really paid off!
first stripped old paint off using "SEM Bumper Stripper"
underneath the paint was another surprise, BROWN!
took a razerblade, and at first i was at about a 30 degree angle with it, BAD IDEA!, i took a few gouges out of them, not too serious though. so i did the rest with the blade perpendicular.
the fenders were now the bright yellow they are now, but they had lots of razer blade scratches on them, i sanded them out with 260, then, 320, 360, 400, 800, 1500 and then hand compunded them.
i was going to clear them, but i changed my mind.
Got new decals today, they're not Harlan Lynes' but they're alright. and it only cost me $48
now this is the final product.
I am just about done fixing this bike. Just have to put the fenders back on and fix the ignition.
i want to put new gaskets in it and then she should run like a champ.
and i am still looking for a rear rack
