well i was ridin to day and all the suddin the dam thing started backfiring and slowin down and stuff..well ive had the stator go bad before so i knew what it was like..i thouhgt dam it..it did it again..and i was about 3 miles from my house with a little daylight left..not good in my case...so i need a new stator again but since i was ognna be in the engine i decided to clean up everything..so i took off the head and jug and took out the piston...lol the piston dont look to good either..(it burned oil alot) the whole top of the piston was black form oil and carbon...i thouhgt a little harder..really not good..so i got my work cut out for me till i get the new stator..hopefully it wont be long....is it just me that has problems with stators burning up in 185's??? i wish i could shoot the trike!!! and then buy a 200x :D
the stators is a weak point in the honda 200 and 185's :( as for the piston, it dosnt matter much is there is just some black carbon on top of the piston, thats normal, you can just scrape it off and clean it up and its good to go, if anything the carbon gives it a lil extra compresion lol ;)

The 82-84 ATC110, 84-85 125m, and the 185-200cc models ( except 86-87 200x ) 3 wheelers are known to eat OEM exciter coils.
The fix: Just replace the exciter coil on the stator. This is a fairly easy task. Honda says it can't be done, but they are wrong. I have been doing it for years ( jenndnn3, just replaced one on a 110 ).
There is a company that makes these exciter coils. I sell these, and many other people / places sell them also. I try to keep at least 5 in stock. If you need / want one PM me for details. These are NEW Aftermarket coils.
