85-86 bigreds vs 87

I have been looking on ebay all morning for parts for my 87 bigred that the bottom end is locked up on.

alot of the parts I am finding are listed for the 85-86 models but dont mention 87, are there any significant changes on the 87 that would cause parts from the earlier models not to work?? also are the 250es and the 250sx the same engine are what is the differences in them??

There arent many differences. Electrical is all the same. The BIG difference is the rear swingarm, and the starter, and how it bolts down. THe rest should swap. I have a 87 and a 85 parts bike. I will say that the 86 is almost identical to the 87. The swingarm and axle assembly are the same on the 86 & 87. Hope this helps? :beer. If you need a motor either a 85 or 86 should bolt right in and wire up. You will just have to buy the starter also for the motor you buy.
