Hey everyone,
I recently bought a used 250 Bigred three wheeler from my aunt and need your help. The trike has been sitting for at least 10 years that I know of. There is no telling why it sat so long. My problem is, We can't find the key for it and I want to try and see if it will crank over. How do I go about hot-wiring this beast? I have removed the ignition and was just hoping I could use the "on/Off" switch to shut it down.? Can anyone send me the info I need to try and get this electrical problem corrected?
When I got my basket case 250es for free, it didn't have a key either. We took the key switch off and everything, and there should be 4 wires. Two of them are bigger, one of these is black and one is red. When you touch them it should turn "on". You can get a simple on/off switch from somewhere like I did, it works fine, but to turn it off you have to use the thumb switch. And leave the 2 wires together while running or the lights won't work and the battery won't charge.

So let me get this straight. I connect the two larer diameter wires together to get "Power ON" right? and what about the other two wires? I sure hope this works.. Then Im off to find some newer fenders and man do these tires need to be trashed and replaced..
Thanks again King44 for your input..

if that doesnt work connect a wire from the battery and run it to the starter pull the little rubber cap off and thuch the wire to the starter, it shoul spin the motor over with or with out the key switch. I know it works on my 84 200es because i lost the key for a wile.

Yep, those 2 larger wires should turn it on. The other 2 are to kill the engine when you turn the key "off" but as long as you have a working thumb on/off switch, they shouldn't be important. by the way, don't touch that big red wire to any medal :)

Well I finally got time to go out and work a little on my 85 250es.. I hooked the two biger wires together and checked for spark.. It runs !!! Now to save up and get a few new tires and maybe someone can could be nice enough to post a picture of a seat assembly so I can fabricate one.
Im so happy now..

If we had our digital camera here I'd take some snaps but it's not... www.bikebandit.com has alot of schematics for near any mechanical part on your bike though.
