I put 84 250r forks on my 200x today. I used a 350x tripple clamps, and a 84 250r front end. Now here is my problem, everything went together until I got the tripples installing. I I figured out what I did wrong, I put the wrong races in the frame, I got them mixed up and ended up cutting and beating the races out also some heating up of the races. I decided screw it, I put it all together and no other hitches. I'm ordering another taper bearing kit on monday and also I melted part of the plastic off of the new throttle and cluth cable(I'll tape it up and see how it holds for now). When I get the new bearing kit, I will be sure to install them right. Here is some pics of it together(for now, untill I get the new races and take it apart), I also installed a new cluth, and a new works rear shock, next to come is a port and polished top end(its done now), high compression piston and new vavles and cam(have to order), I'm thinking of a wider axle too. I think I'm gonna try the 84 250r axle and get that to work, what else do I need for that besides the axle and sprocket? brake hub? Another thing, how much oil does the 250r forks need. I also cut the steering stops at bit for maximuim turning(its close to how much my short track 250r turns). I'm also gonna get roll design pegs(they fit in a 86 atc250r, 350x and 200x)

I wonder if it would be the same process on the 83-85 200x's?is the R front alot beter then the stocker?

well, alot of guys put 350x front ends on their 200x's and the 84 250r forks are better than the 350x and they are the same daimeter, supposibly stiffer and 1" more travel than a 350x fork, they are noticibly stiffer. I was bottoming my 200x forks on the fast rough trails by me. I really can't say for sure if its gonna be only the forks as I also put a new works shock on and didn't ride on it yet. I just wish I got the races the right way the first time, I'm not looking forward to taking things all apart again. My next bike to work on is the 86 250r, gotta replace the counterbalncer, new piston rings, shouldn't be hard I've maken apart almost everything short of the counterbalncer when I redid my crank seals. I was thinking of putting on a 85 250r front end,but its way too high for the 200x and its alot more work.

I got the works shock new, about $500, the 86r front end is gonna require some fabrication to fit on,its not impossible, but alot of welding and grinding, a straight 350x front end will go on no hitches, I happened to have a 84r front end, so that why I used that, but I had to buy 350x tripplies, unless I wanted to do welding and grinding to make the steering stops work on the 200x. I didn't have to do any mods to the frame and tripples for them to fit. Its your money here, also remember the 350x had a leading front axle, that will extend the bike out alittle, the 84r is a trailing axle, it also depends if you have a wheelie probelm, IE: if you are real light, don't sit all the way up on the bike, also depends on the terrain you ride on, if hilly you might want the leading axle. I used mostly what I had, but if I had to buy a front end, I'd buy a 350x front end complete.

Hi guys, I was wondering does the 250r fork fit on a 1986 atc 200x. I only see people upgrade the 85'200x
