I would say use the krylon fusion for plastic. It would work the best. However, it will all come off eventually. Especiall if you trail ride.

I used some krylon fusion plastic paint on my side panels and number plates on my old school cr yesterday and turned out good.I took all the decals off, sanded them until the plastic didint have a shiny feel to it and then painted it...

Hey smokin, yeah my neighbor did his that way too. But now every time he goes and rides on the trails all the crap flying up from the fron tire, and the limbs and high weed beat the paint until it starts flaking off. No kidding one ride and his looked bad. I will say that it was on a 4 wheeler, so each front tire is kicking crap up on them. Looked like some one shot them with rock salt. LOL

i think PPG sells a paint adhesion promoter for plastics. you have to spray down some stuff on the plastic first and then mix up the paint with a chemical that makes it extremly flexible.
I have never tried using it, but i am sure it would work very good. A guy at work told me about it, he said he painted a paint mixing cup just to test the flexibility and then he put the cup in a freezer then squeezed it, the cup ended up breaking and the paint was fine.
sorry i am not sure the price, but i think that "Pike Sales" supplies it.

I picked up some primer and some paint from Wal-Mart to make my SX fenders nice and red again and after about 2 weeks it looked like crap.

yes but that was at a body shop right? they use the ppg stuff that yamahauler mentiond and they also prepped and use real nice pain and have all the proper equipment to do it...225dxl if your just trying to make your plastic look nicer, just sand it down and re-clear coat it, it will look much better than usin krylon, and unless you have the bucks to take it to a body shop thats what i would do, i think there is a guide to do it on the tech link on the main page of the web site..check it out :naughty: :D

if you get some spray paint, from a hobby store, used for R/C cars, it might work... it is mad for lexan, and it is flexable....

has anyone ever had problems when they just clear coat the plastic them?
does it ever start craking or chipping off?
i think that is what i will likely do with my fenders if it works good.
i have sanded them right to 1500 and they are still dull.
i still could keep going with a finer grit but i cant find any waterproof above 1500

I think I read somewhere that after 1500 you can move on to polishes. Just an idea.

i tried power polishing them, the front fender looked brand new but the rear fender seemed like it was a softer compound of plastic and i couldnt do it with out burning it. so i just re sanded them all will 1500 so the all looked the same and i think the clear would adhear better to it. i tried hand polishing too, but that did dick-all.
Yamahauler theres this stuff you can get at the auto motive store its called plastic re-new or something like that..its like a clear coat for plastic..it lasts quite a while, you just spray it on and its all shiny :D

allright, I'll just sand it down and clear coat it if i can't find the right paint and a spray gun.
thanks for the feedback
