Hmm.. a friend said to me that it put in his motor bike (Yamaha 80cc) a stopper of octan boost in his gasoline. it's not a modification has itself but that gives more power.

if your gona go for the port n polsih i would also oust for a powroll 10.5.1 piston to it..i belive thats what it is and its only 25$!!www.powroll.com its under 250sx bore...its the same motor in the sx and big red so it will work :D

does anyone have any experiance with putting that 76mm 10.5 to 1 piston in a big red? I see it was 150.00 and on sale for 25.00 sounds too cheap, is it a good quality piston? also will the high compression generate too much heat in a motor that will spend a good bit of time at low speed and possibly pulling a small trailer?

if anyone else has made this mod, what kind of power increase did you get, was it noticeable

if you have the money get ya crank stroked...its way more reliable than a big bore kit.

I am rebuilding the engine in the 87 bigred I just got. I have already ordered the 10.5 to 1 piston from powroll. They were really nice when talking with them over the phone. Does anybody else offer performance camshafts for the 250 besides webcam?? there price seems a little steep. I mean I just bought a new cam for my big block 427 chevy for about the same price they want for that little thing.

yeah but remember the demand, and how many of those cams they have sold for you 427. plus the research has easily paid for itself. a set of aftermarket race cams for my 4.7l dodge magnum is about 850.00.

and thats the only cam I have been able to find. you might be able tog et someone to do a regrind, or find some better ratio roller rockers.

conig,

have you used the cam, does it make a noticeable difference in performance? I want to make this thing run with some of the bigger 4wheelers but dont want to waste my money on mods that wont help. I am trying to figure out how to get the most bang for my buck. I wonder how the 250 would handle a small nitrous oxide system?? that might give stock reliability, with lots of on demand power when you need it.

nos in a big red..hell yea!! lol..the cam for my 185 from webcams is 105 so really its about the same price as mine....and a 250r carb on that?? r is 2 stroke red is 4..wouldnt that hurt the carb somehow??
