who all made pipes for tri-z's?? i know you can still bnuy DG pipes. (yeah they still make em)
but i want something other than DG. i'd prefer something with a bit more expansion chamber. my Z has a YZ enigne in it and it's drag ported and on alky so i need a rather large pipe. i have a drag pipe but i think it looks dumb and also i want to be able to actualy ride this thing. not just blast it in stright lines

Keep an eye out on ebay for one,I know of some aftermarket systems from the 80's but they dont produce them now so finding one would be difficult.

Like he said, keep an eye on ebay. When I was building mine I found that dg was the only company that still builds them. You might get lucky and find someone that will build you a custom pipe if you call around to a few places.

Ive seen a few in the last month on ebay. There has been a few DGs, a phase 5, a couple bassani's. A company called PSI also made them, and a couple others that I cant remember the names right now. I had a hybrid on my Z when it had a YZ motor in it. It was half PSI, and half something else, but I dont remember what now. A guy in my group runs a PSI and they are good pipes. I also run a DG on my 86 and I love its powerband. Its a nice overall duner.

I've got a Bill's Pipe with a CT silencer on my 85. It was on it when I bought it and I haven't seen another. I know there's got to be some more out there somewhere.

Im not sure what you mean by "more expansion chamber" because there so much more to manipulation of the powerband than expansion chamber size. It has a lot more to do with how its elongated, and where its located. If you are shooting for a more top end oriented pipe, you might want to look at a stock pipe (just loose the huge heavy stock silencer). If you still want more top end, you need to start losing some of that right then left curl distance between the cylinder and the expansion chamber, and youll probably have to go to a custom pipe. If you are just looking to move more volume, the greatest restriction is after the expansion chamber, between it and the silencer, but when you start opening that up, your low end begins to disappear really fast. Also, these are normally ported with a specific type pipe and purpose in mind, and it might be a good idea to talk to whoever did your porting as to what you want to accomplish.

yeah i know there are about 1000 different ways to manipulte teh powerband. my engine is ported for the ESR drag pipe i got with it. but like i said that drag pipe is gonna be in the way. i really need an inframe pipe. i;d like something more top enmd oriented. i'm used to riding banshees so i know all about no low end lol. anyway i saw that somebody on here has a LRD pipe. i think i'd like to find one of those. oh yeah do YZ pipes come anywhere close to fitting????
