I heard that old fast sleds were becoming very collectable, the ones like a Blizzard or something, does any body have anything about these or have one?

I have an old sled, it ain't a blizzard but its a good old machine...and it is in no way slow!

198? 400 Ski-Doo Citation...I love that machine...it has been through alot of years, alot of snow, alot of "Push it until you go fast enough", alot of jumps, alot of....well, lets just say its old and well used, but still runs like a charm.

Allmost forgot, if you prime it twice before you pull it over, it is a definate *1 pull start*...amazing eh? No kidding.

I have a friend with 2 blizzards, there those Ski-doo's with the Big flat yellow noses right?

i have a fast old snowmobile, a 1980 Yamaha Enticer 300. It used to be my dad's and he said that he used to go riding with his friend who had a 340cc and the 300cc could beat it off the line, and in the 1/4 mile. When i was a bit younger, me and my brother rode beside our friend who had a speedometer and he said we were going 65 mph with 2 of us on there!

http://www.vintagesnowmobiles.50megs.com/1974_Alouette_Page.html I think This is what my buddy had "back in the day" It WAS the FASTEST thing around. Kicked all the Arctic Cat Paneras and the Exciters and everything else. Not sure if his was the same year, but it was 100% sure an Alouette 440.

One of the sickest looking Snowmobiles ever...
http://www2.ebtech.net/~dhakala/76RV_Wallpaper.jpg

...and mine is a Ski-doo Citation SS 400, very similar to this. Last year It had the unfortunate event of the ski-doo landing wierd after jumping up/off the side of a dugout(it was a verticle drop), and busted up the track pretty bad...along eith the drive gear, which the bearings were completely gone on one side(I now know what that noise was, couldn't find the source before)...so the ockward landing + no drive sprocket bushing = something really trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro up.

And my first ski-doo was a Ski-doo TNT Citation 300, just like this...(the one in the front)...one day it just blew up :(

That 300 we got off my great uncle inlaw, and it was jacked up...so the *** end was about 6" higher off the ground than stock...it now rests in Snowmobile heaven (seriously, "my trike sucks" might know that place).

Anyways, sorry for Hi-jacking your thread :D

can't remember exactly what it was but I had a fan-cooled 1972 yamaha ,think it was a GP433? Kinda dating myself but in 1980 it was clocked at 108 by radar on the canal. Untill the liquid cooled Kawasakis came out there was not many sleds would stay w/ it. no fun to ride; only wanted to run WIDE open- only way the twin carbs would stay in sync...

Like a year or two ago, you could look in the Bargain Finder and find a Big-Red for $400...now some are selling for $2000

Anyways "My Trike sucks", I've got my eye's on that 79 John Deere Trailfire 440($250), so keep your dirty paws off it :D

Snowmobile Heaven is in Rimby, here (http://www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$Engineering/obsolete.nsf/0/1FC557453C639CC98725696800701514?OpenDocument). I can find anything there...half the stuff I made one of my go-carts out of is from there, and everytime one of our Machines needs a part, we go there...but sometimes they can be kind-of overpriced.

Love that garbage finder, half of these sleds are in the darned thing every week! I was up near pigeon lake a few years back and saw a guy who had a literal sled fence around his yard, like every old sled imaginable, in every condition imaginable all lined rupp.

I wouldn't even touch an old sled UNLESS; It is in absolutely mint condition and is collecting dust in my garage, Or ducttaping the throttle wide open, and sending it out through the woods. You guys seriosly need to update. The sleds now days are absolutely incredible how far they have come. Sleds pumping out over 150hp (lc twins) and amazing suspension. I personally can't wait till my new f7 gets in in a couple days!! Then for race season to start with my 440 snopros.

not everyone has 10k to spend on a new sled or even needs something that powerful ! ever thought of that? old sleds are great for bootin around on....and some of them are pretty dam quick for bein 20 years old...saying you should really update is like saying screw 20 year old trikes and go buy a new banshee becuse they have way better suspension and put out way more horse power, but people dont always do that now do they? ,

Pistonhead

Banshee's don't even have that good suspension!
