I emailed the seller 4-5 days ago to correct his listing as these are still available from HONDA.

He blew me off, so I sent the buyer the following info (hopefully before he purchased!)

You got had.... I emailed the seller days ago that his description was misleading. Obviously, he blew me off. These are still available from HONDA for $20.89 a piece. I'd tell the seller that they are NOT "rare and hard to come by"... you can get them at any HONDA dealer! This is off the www.servicehonda.com website... it doesn't paste well.... Parts Price Lookup Catalog: Honda powersportsrider.com Enter Item Number (including dashes) Item Number Description Qty-Pack List Price Each Our Price Each Select 19071-HA5-000ZA GUIDE, R. AIR *R109* 001 $28.56 $20.89 The other side is part 19072-HA5-000ZA 1986 ones are 670 instead of 000 Bruce
(ebay doesn't keep the spaces I guess!)

Word of advice... before you start bidding on 'rare' items like this, take a peek at www.bikebandit.com or www.servicehonda.com and 1.) Check if discontinued. 2.) Check what the price was/is. This guy coupld have saved himself $100!!

I noticed that he sold a set for the same price practically 2 weeks ago.

Nice detective work ;) . Ebay could use more of folks like you. The same seller sold another pair for 66 dollars the other day.

They say Ebay Motors sells a part every 2 seconds.
That means we need to re-word an old saying.
It should now read, "There's a sucker born every 2 seconds".

I know that sounds harsh and there are a HUGE number of legitimate buyers and sellers on there but the number of shysters is going up at a frightening pace. :(

Thanks for the tip and thanks for taking the intiative to put that seller in his/her place, Bruce!

Did you give the buyer a link to the forums so he can be properly educated.
And send one to the seller too and say there are over four thousand members that will not fall for that crap.

I try to let other 3 wheeler riders know when someone is trying to scam on ebay. Most of the time the person thinks Im just trying to outbid them some crooked way, but if I save one person some heartache.. its all worth it.

don't go by service honda's screen and bike bandit if a part is discontinued. I ordered parts for my 250r and 200x that were discontinued and it didn't display it on either screen, by the way 86 200x shrouds are discontinued. they got back to me about them being discontinued.

Well.... I bought a couple sets AND fork boots this summer. Usually if they have the red computer bar code, they are still around. Not always, but rule of thumb I've found.

Yikes-chill you commies (j-k), we are Americans though, capitalists (its part of our democracy and economy...). He is just turning a profit, its a soft spot because its a fellow rider, but I dont blame him a bit. I sell car parts and things as well as spare parts and if they bid it up and pay that then thats what its worth (rule of business-my major). Wait till these things actually sell out, then they will be that much anyway. Its not like he beguiled or swindled him with something broken or damaged. I wouldnt email him and behest he change his auction verbage and undercut him by emailing his bidders, but I would let them know about this site, whether they utilize it to their advantage is soley up to them. So more power to him.

Ergo its not a bad idea, I think I have some machination to go ponder...

Egg Zack LEE!

If he left the rare and hard to come by part out of the ad, I'd have no problem with it. With that in there it's false advertizing, lying, cheating, etc. I gave the seller the benifit of the doubt and told him the correct info DAYS before the auction ended. He chose to not correct his ad, thus proving the fact he put that in there to swindle more money out of John Q. Public.

The prosecution now rests your honour...
