How do you test a CDI unit? (not the ones on the motor....the little black boxes). Thanks

hi brad.
it's a series of touching the leads ( pins in the cdi plug in area ) together and seeing what the reading is on a multimeter. being theres 6 , 8 or sometimes more then 10 pins to touch and see what the readings are it's a very time consuming ( and often a confusing ) chore.
what modle cdi are you needing to check out ,,, i can mail you the test procedure if i have the manual for it.

its a cdi off of my 1992 RM 250. i rode it about 4 times and it was making weird noises (VERY hard to explain on here), but long story short, the motor sounds like its making 2 different Idling noises at the same time (like its trying to rev up, or it has a slight air leak). then one day it just wouldnt start. so i bought a cdi and ignition coil off ebay, and that didnt help...now im in the process of getting a stator, but thought i would check my cdi first...(i hope its not the CDI, its like 362.00 i believe!)
