Ok guys. I have bleed brakes many times on many cars, trucks, and motorcycles. I just bought a complete new rear brake assembly for my 350x and installed it. Its new. No fluid in it at all. It was taken off a bike back in 87 and stored for all these years. Its clean as a pin, just dry. Maybe thats the problem. I have filled the reservoir with fluid, put a piece of tubing over the bleeder screw, had my wife pump the pedal 10 times or so, and hold it down. As its held down, I crack the bleeder open, to let any air escape. Then I close the bleeder, and she releases the pedal after the bleeder is tight. I have done this for about 5 min and all I got was a couple of bubbles once in the reservoir. Thats it. Fluid isnt making it to the caliper as of yet and the fluid level isnt dropping in the reservoir. I know its dry. Air locked or something. Any ideas at all on how I can get fluid down there? Just keep pumping it?

I have had problems when there is a lot of air in the master cylinder getting it to prime. I have a little hand vaccume pump bleader that I got at the auto parts store. It attaches to the bleeder nipple and pulls the fluid through. I used it to get things going, then I was able to finish up with the pump method.

No. I ended up haveing to bleed the master cylinder, then the hose back to the caliper, then the caliper its self. I still have a bit of air in it, but I can get it out. There was just too much air in the thing. :beer

I just dealt with this exact same issue on my kdx200 front master cylinder and brake line. I had a brand new rebuilt master cylinder with new piston and seals, but it woulnd't push the fluid through the line no matter what. I even tried another master cylinder off a honda I knew was good and it didn't work either. Ended up buying a vacuum pump and using that plus some tubing and a container inbetween to catch the fluid, and pulled it through, brakes work great now, but still had a long time of bleeding by hand even after the whole line was full.
