I have a yamaha 200e 3wheeler with electric start. it won't run and my lights won't come on. the bulbs are good, before I charged the battery everything was fine then after installing the fully charged battery it won't start and none of my lights will come on, neutral, reverse, headlight etc. I have 12 volts at the switch but nothing anywhere else. any one have any ideas.?

I know this sounds dumb but could happen, just check the connections on the battery and make sure you have positive on positive. Then I would trace from there following the wiring all the way up to the on/off switch. Also try starting it without the battery and see if there is any problem there.

If you did cross the terminals, then you probobly blew a fuse some where.

Pull the plug from the block and ground it to the head, and pull the cord, or kick it what ever form of manual starting you have, and see if you have spark to the plug, then work your way back from there, the problem should become apparent eventually, but like i siad, it SHOULD become apparent, trouble shooting is the hardest part of repair.

I have power at the switch and at the plug but it still acts as if its shut down. still no lights of any kind.

Check to make sure that you didn't pull the plug off the neutral switch. They can also go bad, they wear down with time. The rest of the lights don't work off the battery, unless it is different than a 225 and it won't start off the electic unless the neutral indiator/switch is working properly or you ground the connector. If the plug in on the the neutral switch, pull it off, ground it and see if it comes to life.

traced the ground back to the neutral switch and if I ground it right where the wire comes out then the light works but doesn't work without a seperate ground..so I can only assume that the switch is screwed or it is not going into neutral.

does the 200E have reverse?

Nope, reverse comes on the 200es, and 250es :beer

If it is a Yamaha it would be a YTM200ERN if it had reverse. There are 2 models of shaft drive 200's, one with reverse, one without
