Mikuni carbs.....opinions

Recently aquired a 36mm round slide mikuni. Is this an adequate replacement for the stock 85/86 250R carb? Whats the pros and cons between the stock carb (which I assume is Keihin) and the Mikuni carb. Once again thanks to any and all who offer an opinion.

You'll have more throttle response and low-end with the stock 34 mil carb, and more top end with the 36 mil. The air fuel mixture will be inducted into the motor at a higher velocity using the smaller carb.

the mikuni fuel inlet is on the right side of the bike while the fuel petcock is on the left. it makes it a little harder to hook up. i run a 38mm mikuni on my 250r and i have plenty down low. i have pulled every 350x that i have raced (3 i think) off of the line. i am not saying a 34mm does not have more down low, because it does, but a 38mm is fine for me.

I talking about running that carb on a stock motor 200x Basket.
I rur a bored stock carb in my 3rd stage Wes Gelbert/Boyesen proted 250r.

I know you know 200x Basket that to gain true power, the engine needs to be moded from the intake/air box to the silincer. Then you will see much more of a power difference.

shaved head, fmf fatty, boysen ram valve with carbon fiber reeds, port and polish, and so on my bike. on a stock bike a 38 may be over kill but i have seen it. a 36 should be fine for a stock bike.

I prefer Flatslide mikuni TMs, they have interchangable passageways and slides. Stay away from the TMX, it doesnt have passageway adjustments. I like the mikunis due to the fact that they are cheap, and can be converted to alcohol very easily.
