What does the M in 125M or 200M stand for? :o

Some might say M is for Medium and S is for small. That is what I always thought:

200S (small)
200M (Medium)
200ES (Big, as in Red)
200X (X-treme - racing)

Probably not 100% fact - but is seems right.

If this was true then "E" would equal Easy???
I guess "R" stands for Rare???

If your posting were even remotely correct then the original US90 ( K0 - K1 ) Then the K probably stands for Killer? So I will inform you both that you guys are wrong in your postings. The "S" don't stand for Small and the "M" don't stand for Medium. The 200m and the 200e ( 82-83 Big Red ) & 200es ( 84 Big Red ) are the same size.

The letters stand for the different models and the options that automatically came on those models. Honda and other manufactures have use such techniques to designate the options on different machines for years.

R...racing
X...cross country/racing
S...sport
E...electric start
SX...sport/cross country
M...???
ES...electric start/shaft drive

thats what I got from about 3 seconds of searching the forums, doesnt say the M one, but i only clicked one topic out of 17 pages, i'm sure its on here, next time you have a simple question like this, try searching for it first with the option on top of the forums.. it says "search" then you type in what you wanna find.

searching is easier/better then feeding the whores.

well, what I typed in was REAL hard, and you would NEVER think to type it in when trying to find what something stands for. I put "what does stand for" its a keyword search, so anything with that will show up.

If we all start searchin your momma's gonna starve...

You are lucky I have respect for the people who run this board, and don't want to clutter it up with your little arguments. Otherwise, neah... better not.

Early models ( pre-1978 ):
K0 - first year of Production
K1 - 2nd year of production

Late 1970's early 80's and on Honda didn't specifically have designated name for each letter ( other than the E & ES ).
These are the letters used and basically what they stand for:

Note: I put the models made per letter in ( ).

E - Big Red - Utility with electric start ( 200e )
ES - Big Red - Utility with electric start, shaft drive and reverse ( 200es, 250es )
M - Electric Start ( some say: Sport / with Electric Start ) ( 125m, 200m )
R - 2 Stroke / preformance / Racing ( 250r )
S - sport ( 185s, 200s )
SX - sport/ Utility / All Purpose ( 250sx )
X - 4 Stroke / preformance / Racing ( 200x, 350x )

Post Whoring?????????????? Not only is it not post whoring, but you gave me a "bad feedback" in my reputation. I have like 170 posts and don't really give a hoot about post counts. That and I sent you a PM in which you never replied to. I suppose you "didn't get it" though!!!

I wouldn't say R stands for 2-stroke. I have a 1984 500R and it's a 4-stroke. XR500R. I also have a TRX450R.

howdy also said R stands for Race so the R on those bikes would work cause they are the big CC bikes made for racing.

I always thought the 'S' in 200S and 185S stood for Suspenision as in front suspension... the first 185 and 200 did NOT have suspension and did not have a 'S'.

I didn't say they were exact representations. Only Basically what they mean.

If you compare the machines made during the time frame the "S" models are sportier than some of the other machines.
Example:
185s ( 81-83 ) verses ATC110 ( 81-83 ), 200 ( 81-83 ), 200e ( 82-83 ), ect
200s ( 84-86 ) verses ATC110 ( 84-85 ), 125m ( 84-85 )(86-87), 200es ( 84 ), 200m ( 84-85 ).

The 1981 - 1982 185s didn't have suspension.
