I am looking for info on a 3 wheeler called pacesetter made in the 70's. Was made up here in canada. I think it was powered bt briggs and stratton motor 9 hp and centrifugal clutch. Red in color, looking to buy one as they were really simple to work on.

Hey Kando,

I am in Minnesota and have come across a Pacesetter three wheeler. It looks to be in really nice condition. Any idea what they are worth?? Thanks

I just bought a 74 pacesetter with a Honda GX340 11hp engine in it, what a riot! My kids are going to love it.... Anyone know of where these guys went, or if they are in existance anymore?

Anyone want to buy it? I am in Calgary AB Canada Open to reasonable offers, other than the body, this thing is in excellent shape!

How are your kid's going to like it if you sell it ?? Pacesetter's were made in Cascade Iowa. There is one on eBay. It has been listed 3 times and the guy can't give it away for $150. It looks nice.

I'm actually bidding on that pacesetter. I know 150 is high, but these are really uncommon, and it's located fairly near me (which is even more uncommon). I just bought another one off ebay for $5 for parts. I'd be interested in chatting about them with someone that knows something about them some time.

I just spent the day rebuilding the engine in the little sucker - The engine is DEFINATELY not worth selling! I can catwalk this little thing for a block! Yahoooo... Seems like a glorified lawn tractor, lol... With the good solid framework it has, I forsee a welding project to turn it into a quad with some suspension - no more bumpy ride..... :) Dirtybiker - Do either of those trikes have modified carbs? - I have mine rigged up with a dirt bike carb, the throttle control is cool.....

Both I have seen (own one so far) have Wisconsin Robin engines in them that are totally stock.

I think mine is missing a few parts in the drive line, upon much further inspection I am noticing I am in for more than I originally thought. :) Do you have any photos up close of your units? I am wondering if there is a chain tension sprocket that mounts on a pin towards the back drive shaft. I also wanted to know what other people have done with the intrmediate sprockets, if maybe they have been modified for diff. speeds... The wiring is also all chopped off, would you happen to have pics of this wiring? - Thanks for your help dirtybiker..... - If you have pics - can you email them to dezineguyzak@gmail.com - trikeguyzak

From wat I ave seen / heard - The Pace Setters were produced during the late 70's. They were a small offroad manufacturing company. They were manufactured in Iowa, but also re-sold in Canada. They claim to have sold only 500 of these before they dumped the company and swithced to making other things. They were a very tough "home grown" trike, too bad they didn't make the public market long, - zak -:wondering

They were made in Cascade, IA in the late 70's. The company changed the name to commuter and produced the first "5" wheelers, they then sold the rights to John Deere and that is how the Gator was born. The company is still in business and they make golf course equipment for Deere.

Awesome! I never knew the outcome of the company.... Attached are a few pics of what mine looked like before I got to rebuilding it. I will have to take some more pics soon. I have added Harley Davidson Handle bars to make it more of a cruiser, and rebuilt the Honda 11hp Engine, beefed it up with a better gear ratio for top end speed, put back the idler sprocket, new chain, new rear tires, new gas tank, rebuilt carb - a bit of fun work. :) -z-

If you like to habe something you can nevr find factory parts for..... It is a VERY home grown style trike. You can stuff all sorts of engines in it, as well as clutches and drive line can be welded in very easily. If you want something to play with, it is ok. I got mine for a steal at $80CAD! Neighbour had it for 20 years and never used it. The engine was my original thought to pillage, but ended up sinking $500 into to play with. My kids love it, they ride that while I rip on the quad. :)

How come the only neat stuff I see is in New England or pretty much near there and not near New Mexico, Arizona, or West Texas? Is it (Egay) kinda like those car buyer mags that show only the cars on the opposite side of the country? Yup, I picked one up in Washington and then when I got to Norfolk and they pretty much had only stuff from Florida/Georgia and the other had mostly California cars. Strange

Mine as 2 rear shox, no front ones. It has been modified to have a rear drum brake from a dirt bike. The front has a dirtbike brake too. The seat will def. need to be redone. The frame is in IMMACULATE condition still! It is a great trike to teach my bro some mechanics... I would say it was SO worth it....
