Ok, I got a completely different bottom end I used during my rebuild. That said, I've gone through great lengths trying to get this thing to start. I can't get spark and I have no idea why. I tried testing it with an ohm meter and got nothing. I'm not sure I used it correctly but still i'm sure there is no spark. I've been looking on ebay for a new coil and was looking at CDI's as well.
All the 83-85 200x CDI's have a white round plastic connection that looks like this.http://i1.ebayimg.com/01/i/02/b6/9a/36_1.JPG http://i1.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/ba/a1/01_1_b.JPG
Now here are the pics I just took off of my bike that was an 83.

The last 4 pics isn't working for me. If you have the wrong CDI that may cause the bike not to fire, but on all the machines I've worked on and had to replace the CDI... there was a very weird spark pattern, like one second I would get greak spark, another second later I would get very very weak spark, and then none at all, etc. If you don't get any spark at all, I would test the stator (they seem to be the #1 cause of no spark) If you don't know how to test it yourself, find an electrician or take it to a shop to have it tested. It also may be a bad ground connection, if you don't have ground, you won't have spark. If you could get those last 4 pics working, we could see what CDI you have and go from there.

hhhmmm... well, if it doesn't have the right CDI box on there, but the connections are identical, there must be a different wiring harness on there too. I dunno, are you sure thats not the CDI thats supposed to be on there? Its kinda weird that someone would change the whole wiring harness to make another CDI box fit.
that cdi you took off is from a 200's 200 ; or 200m i belive its identical to my friends and mine...wich are 84' 200s 85' 200m and a 82' 200

Actually, according to www.dratv.com, the CDI for the '83 200x is supposed to look like this:

well all the cdi's on ebay i've seen look like the 2 i posted. Thank u mytrikesucks! i dont think it could be the problem, but it's just weird that it's there. u know what i just remembered. when i bought the trike the stator case was broken, so i got a totally different one with the stator (i think) already inside and bolted it right on. maybe i put a bad one on. i'm gonna go take the good case off and swap stators and see what happens.
not a problem ;) hmm...i wonder why sucks..is censord...meh whatever..lol

ok this is listed as fitting 83-84 200x's. do the 85's have a different stator??? Howdy???

i'm so lost it's not even funny. as far as my other stator goes, i must've thrown out the broken case with stator  i'm about ready to call it quits with this.
if u were in my position. would u buy another harness with cdi, and coil, and a separate magneto. or throw in the towel?
take the coil magneto and cdi to a eletric motor shop and have them test them fo conductivity...it should take them all of 5 minuts to do it then thy can tell you if there any good :)

what do u mean by an electric motor shop???
an shop that rebuilds eletric motors...like a place that re-winds them...they would know what they be doin with an ohms meter...:)
or you could take them to the local honda shop and they would be able to do it too. :D

i wonder what the cf number stands for? anyway is the picture I posted of a stator what I need to replace? I keep my X at my parents house in their garage so I can't look at it for awhile to check.

It's almost always the stupid stator. Check it with a VOM 100 - 300 ohms should be found between the terminal and ground. , if not pull the flywheel and change it.
I have a bunch of CDI's with square and round plugs here, all are good and they came from some serious junk bikes. Coils seem to last forever as well.
Also, do your self a favor and goto walmart and get a Champion spark plug!
