My friend bought a 5mm stroker crank for his triZ not knowing it was actually for a 85/86 250r...So he sold it to me for 100 bucks..My question is do i need to do anything special to my trike to install this..And will it actually help? My trikes engine is basically stock other then porting and polished..I figured if i cant use it i can sell it on ebay.....Any ideas????

You will need to make a spacer between the cylinder and the head, or your piston will hit. Unless, the connecting rod was shorted. It will help tons for your low-end. It gives the engine more leverage.

LOL obviously you know nothing about a stroker crank,,,,, you don't use a spacer above the cylinder! what do you do when the rings come out of the top? you have to have the proper piston to go with the crank ,,, it will have a adjusted pin height so your port tinming remains the same,

if you know the stroke it won't be hard to get a piston,,, :D

Powroll sells a spacer that you put on your cylinder that spaces the cylinder and piston so they dont hit each other. And i guess it keeps the ports in time also.

You do not use a spacer plate for a stroker crank. The piston skirt would be hitting the crank with the stock piston with or without a spacer. A spacer plate is used when you have the long rod. Do as Kasey stated and order a piston for a 5mm stroker( if you are sure thats what it is). Powroll sells 4 stroke parts not 2 stroke so they will not be able to help you ether.
Why do some of you guys try to help someone when you yourself have no idea what you are talking about. This forum is to help others out, not to cause them to spend needless money and end up blowing up thier engine in the process. If you have no idea what you are talking about please do not post. OK im done with my venting. LOL

there is only one reason to use a spacer plate on a 250r,,,, 1988 and 1989 trx motors have a longer rod . you can use several combinations and some require a spacerplate between the base and the cylinder,,, the longer rod motor has a higher pin placement to make up for the longer rod, so when you use a 562 wiseco piston no spacer ,, but you can run a short rod piston a 526,, with a spacer plate,,, but you can't run a long rod piston on a short rod,,,,

guys i also agree about all the HIT AMD MISS I THINK SOMEONE DID THAT , information that is given out by clueless people

Hi All

I figure that since all the other experts chimed in, then I would too. Can you take a pic of the crank and post it? Sometimes people think that the 88-89 "long rod" is a stroker crank and it's not. The long rod is 5mm longer which makes me question it. Has the pin placement been moved on the crank or does it look stock? On some stroker motors they have to machine the cases. You will need the spacer plate between the cases and the cylinder.

Pls post some pics so we can see.

I personally run an 89 rod with an 86 piston and 5mm spacer on one of my bikes.

Dammit!

So is it true that a longer rod (and proper piston etc) gives you more low end? I've never done that mod before.
