I just inherited a 84 250R that has been sitting behind a friends house for a year and a half. Plastic, brakes and the electrical harness are in shambles.
The swingarm looks like it could be refreshed also, it has a +2? axle and the nuts have been tack welded. Tires are almost new and everything else looks ok. The motor turns over fine and gets gas but no spark. My friend said it fired up a month ago. I unscrewed the cap on the coil and the wire pulled right out with no copper showing. I imagine my first purchase will be a new coil. Did the 84 come with an electrical switch to fire the bike up? Is there anybody that sells a wire harness for the 84 250R or am I better off just making one myself. I'm up for the project but would like to start the motor and run through the transmission first to see what I'm up against and if it will be worth it. Besides, it might be fun without brakes
