My friends may have a chance to buy one minus the motor. I know theres the 185s and the 200s but he wants something a little more performance minded and something with a clutch. What are some other options and keep in mind that finding another 200x motor would be great but difficult so I was thinking XR200/250 or something similar.

Cool? thanks.

Or go with a CR motor. Like a CR125.

yeah but two stoke cr/yz/kx/rm arent easy to come by. Although I am looking. Anyone ever stuff a XR250 into a 200X?

The xr250 engine is closer to the size of the 350x engine. It's too tall for the 200x frame. It would take extensive frame mods if it is even possible. I had a xr250r and had the same idea, but when I did a visual comparison I ruled it out.

thanks muddy, just exploring options. So it looks like a 125 two smoke, XR200r or stock 200x motors are the best options for upgrades.

How much of a difference in power is there between a stock 200x and a stock 185s/200s motor?

They would be the easiest, but best option would IMO be a Yamaha RD motor. Here's a pic of the motor. notice: the header pipes would miss the down tube of a 200x frame. Also the exhaust has no expansion chambers, thus making routing easier. these motors are closely related to the banshee motors and would seriously kick ass in a 200x. SCARY FAST The prices on Ebay for these motors isn't to bad either. I'd do it, but I refuse to contaminate my Honda with Yamaha parts. :D :D :D

hey, get on ebay and see what's out there. a lot of really nice engines would fit. picked up a nice kawasaki 250 cheap, to put in an old suzuki dirt bike. or you could try a cb750 like mine, hehehe.
