picked up a sweet 83 a few weeks ago. wasnt really impressed with the performance so I bought a new 300 big bore kit, slapped that in and it does have tons of low end torque but I wasnt impressed so i put a 15 tooth sprocket on the front. my 85 still blows it away. seems like it needs another gear. does anybody make a smaller rear sprocket like a 38 or 39 tooth.
thanks nate

Prolly got it from Xowner who had a nos honda line 300R kit in the box and still had everything in factory wrappin sold it for 400 bucks thats a steal! i would also say that sprocketspecialties has 38-39 rear tooth and if u drop the rear trailprotrailpro going to lose more lowend so the waters really going to eat ya i have a 250R without the 300R kit and i can stay up with him till i top i just resently put 9inch(85-86) 250R rims and 20-11-9 raptor wheels on it and its a POWERHOUSE all the way to pinning it out but i did lose some top end but its nothn like having wheel spin threw 3rd gear it corners great now and will pull a one wheel wheelie out of corners when u wrap it.
i would say great upgrade for the air-cooled R's

the big bore kit was brand new in the box. I was impressed to see a teflon coated piston from 1983.
I just put new 20x11x10 turf tamers on the rear wich I can say made an awesome improvement.

Thats cool Nate, sounds like quite a bike. Theres one 83/84 R around here and its been bored to a 300cc, was really surprised to hear about it cause it always looked like such a stock beater. Would really liek to buy it but I'm trying to convince my bud to buy it so I have a decent riding buddy.
