Hi guys I would like to know the difference between a KXT 250 and A KX 250 motor as I have a frame for a 1992 KX 250 and can not find an engine but I am able to get hold of up to 3 KXT 250 motors ( Sorry I have tried but cannot find a frame here in NZ ) and would like to know if it could be fitted in the the KX and if there are any major differences between the two.
Thanks guys
ps I would prefur to put it into a trike but it is not possiable

The KX motor has a lighter flywheel and a diferent stator. That is the only difference between an 86-7 KX and an 86-7 KXT. Now a 92 motor might be different, but i know the mounts are in the same spots. someone just put a later model KX motor in their KXT, so you should be able to do the reverse. hope this helps you out
Depends on what year Tecate if there's any chance at all.
The 84/85 KXT motors have a "slant" exhaust port designed to go around a single down-tube frame. You would have to rule these out completely for a 92 KX frame without major frame mods.
The 86/87 KXT motors were changed to have a centered exhaust port, designed to go through a "wish-bone" engine cradle. These motors might bolt into a 92 KX frame as far as the rear and lower engine mounts are concerned. If I remember right, the head-stay was moved to the front of the head on the KX250 by '89 or '90. The 86/87 KXT motor has the head stay mount on the back of the head. 1990 is when the KX was radically re-designed to have the perimeter frame so there may be some other differences.
3wheelsforever put a 95 KX250 motor in his 86 KXT chassis.
