hey yall. new member love the site. i just baught a yamaha trike.no numbers on the frame or anything. but the motor says 123cc.so im guessing its a 125.BUT all the yamaha 125's ive seen have no suspension. this is just a tad smaller then a tri-z 250. this has suspension front and rear, is chain drive, no clutch. first gear down, the rest is up. 2 stroke I THINK.header is really fat halfway back then it hits the pipe.i have pics and can email them to anyone but dont know how to post them yet.please help me!

It appears you have a Yamaha Tri Moto 125 (YTM125) with a rear suspension Kit>

Does it have a kickstarter, and does it kick forward or backwards. My guess is you have a TriZ with a YZ125 motor in it. The Trimoto 125 had an autoclutch, therefore all the gears were up, and no suspension. While forks could be changed out, trying to add rear suspension would be nearly impossible. A whole lot of the older YZ 2 stroke motors were the exact same dimensions as the TriZ motor, and would bolt right in. Got any pictures?
Now Im rereading "no clutch" and "1st gear is down, and others up". One of those statements cannot be correct.
Email some pics and Ill post them.
Tim not to sound mean or anything, but you are wrong! My tri moto has down=super low up=1 and so on!

That is not a YT125 motor then. They were all 5 speed with all gears up.

Got pictures? That would make it easier to identify.

I wouldn't be suprised if this was a Yamaha 125, that was used for racing with suspension and all. Some pic would be great. E-mail them to HondATC or Howdy, and they will get them up for you.

Ive just never heard of 1 down 4 up on any autoclutch model made by anybody. Every autoclutch I have ever seen is all up (not counting reverse), and I guess honda had a few models that were all down. If somebody can tell me a model and year motor that worked otherwise, Im open to learning something new.
Lets see some pics of this mystery Yamaha. I agree it might be a one of a kind racer from the early 80s.

Ill tell you whats up with the gears.i had one.k one down is not considerd first it is a real low gear for climbing.and then one up is 1st,then 2nd.and so on and if it is a 125 its a two stroke with oil injection.the 125 has a stick that says it by the shift lever.does it has full suspension or just front cause it could be 175 forks.does the body look like this.

The mystery trike would indeed seem to be on a YT125 chassis. The forks obviously came from elsewhere, but who knows what? The rear of the chassis had a section cut out, and a swingarm added. This also adds to the wheelbase which was WAY too shortb in these. Wonder what the swingarm is from! Very interesting! I also found it interesting that two of you are saying you have a low gear below neutral. I had never heard of this before, but Im always open to learning something new. I had a YT125 at one time, and mine did not have this feature. I dont recall for certain, but I think mine was an '85.
must be an old aftermarket suspension kit. Holic, how much you askin for your ol' lady! :-D
that's an awesome find! Had the manufacturers done that instead of relying on balloon tires for suspension in the begining, maybe history would have been different.

Very cool pictures. Back in the mid 80's I saw a few YT's show up at the Ice races with rear suspension kits like that. I cant remember off the top of my head what the name of the company was that manufactured them. To bad Honda had a patent on engine placement at that time and the YT Engine couldn't be properly positioned in the frame. Always enjoyed seeing other brands like this show up and race out on the ice which was usually a sea of Honda red.

oh ya, thats what I need. I sent you a PM. I just want to be absolutley sure i can use that kit on my 175, I think it was the same kit for each, the frames a soooooo similar, just a few MINOR differences, but the rear end is identical.

This one might get the award for oldest thread brought back from the dead. Let me search the archives for some Easyboard posts - A couple from Wheelio or maybe Tri-ZBill might fit here (deep inside joke). I want to help this kid, but I might need to run his post through "Babelfish" to get it to read anything like english.
